Visited Arlo Elwood Café and had a bit of a mixed experience, with both highs and a few areas that could be improved.nnThe Bacon Benny was a little underwhelming. The brioche toast was quite thick, and with not quite enough sauce, it ended up feeling a bit dry and heavy. The flavours were there, but it just lacked the balance you’d expect from a dish like this.nnOn the flip side, the El Mex Almuerzo was a standout. It was something different from the usual café offerings and packed with flavour. Everything on the plate worked well together, and it was clearly well thought out and executed.nnThe coffees were decent — not exceptional, but enjoyable and consistent with what you’d expect from a good local café.nnThe atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it a nice spot to sit and enjoy a meal. Service was also solid, with friendly staff and a good overall vibe.nnOverall, a bit of a mixed bag, but with some strong dishes on the menu. Worth a visit, especially if you’re keen to try something a little different.
The food was nice but my smashed avo was smaller than I expected but my wife's breakfast bowl was a good portion. I ended up having a snack at home.nThe coffees were nice and so were the staff. Service was good too.nLoved the music that played. A bit of Chris Isaaz and Portis Head playing in the background, but not too loud that you couldn't have a chat.
Bright, airy space with high ceilings and warm wooden finishes that made it feel cosy. Coffee was solid. The menu felt a little odd - or maybe it was just what we ordered. We had the chimichurri crispy spuds, chicken karaage and a beef burger. The burger was as expected, but the spuds were literally just potatoes and the karaage was simply chicken bites. Both were tasty, but felt more like share plates than complete dishes, so the overall spread ended up a bit unbalanced. Service was friendly and prompt throughout.
Nice cafe in the middle of Elwood.nnCoffee was good and service good.nnBeware however. ‘Shrinkflation’ has struck badly here. Small coffee was literally macchiato size and Almond Croissant was half the size you would expect. $13.60 for a small small coffee and a mini croissant is expensive.nnOtherwise good.
The Miso Tahini and Matcha were absolutely spot on packed with flavor and beautifully balanced. The staff were lovely as always, making the whole experience even better..
