We were first to arrive in our camper, there were just a couple of cars ahead of us. The heavy trucks went on first. Then we waited and waited while every car was loaded, even the late ones. When they finally let us on they put me behind a truck at the back. The rest of the campers got their own line. We got to the passenger section and every seat was taken and so was a lot of the food. When it was time to get off all the other camper vans cars were off loaded and eventually I got fed up and went around the trucks. A miserable trip. So there is no point checking in early it's a crapshoot if you get a seat of anything decent to eat.
Lovely laid back place where you can spend couple of days exploring surroundings area. Its a place where you want to regroup before you dive into next strip of holidays. Every scenery is breathtaking near the surrounding hilltops! One can spend the whole day only by enjoying the magnificent view.
Picton's waterfront offers a picturesque place to picnic, play & observe ferries & ships coming & going. Lots of lovely eateries, museums, shops & a big playground for children. Parking is good and close to waterfront attractions. Public rest rooms are clean and well serviced.
Entering the boat in the heavy rain is poorly organised, there is no covered air bridge. Stuff is nice, there are lots of cafes and informal seats spotted, which make people very relaxed.
A trip to New Zealand’s South Island, wouldn’t be complete without staying in Picton to explore the majestic Marlborough Sounds and Marlborough’s diverse landscape. A truly special experience for all visitors to New Zealand.
