I had my second visit here and once again was extremely pleased with the experience. My rabbit's eyes have improved, indicating that the doctor has made a correct diagnosis of her issue and provided the correct medication. The doctor was gentle with his treatment of my girl. My rabbit is a rescue animal and passed through many hands before she came to me. I wish she had been taken here initially instead of receiving incorrect treatment for a long time. I am greatful to have found my way here and also pleased that my bunny still has her eyesight! A big thank you to the Perth Animal Eye Hospital!
Shortly after my furbaby, Kandy, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, she developed severe cataracts in both eyes and lost her sight. I was referred to Dr Martyn King by my vet and a week later we had her booked in for surgery to remove the cataracts. Our first consult, Dr Martyn King made Kandy and myself feel calm and comfortable. His demeanour was so gentle and caring that I knew Kandy felt safe and enjoyed being in his presence. After a successful surgery, Dr King carried Kandy out to the waiting room, he then put her down and she ran and jumped into my arms like a happy puppy dog with new eyes. I highly recommend Dr King and am forever grateful for his excellent service, warmth and compassion.
Highly recommended - the staff here are so nice and it’s obvious they love animals and strive for a good outcome. Dr King was so patient and gentle with my dog and put both dog and stressed out owner at ease. Two healthy eyes, one happy dog, one relieved owner. Thanks so much.
We were seen as an emergency case by Dr John Wood the care that was given to our dog Atticus was second to none John went over and above to be gentle and caring to our super nervous, neurotic boy we struggle with any type of vet visit, let alone an eye specialist and John was so patient and considerate of his issues. I would highly recommend this clinic if you require eye care for your pets. We were very lucky that his eye issues were sorted with medication and time to heal. Thank you to John and the team for that fantastic care we received. 10/10
We were referred here by Vetwest to review our 12.5 year old Hungarian Vizsla. He had an ulcerated eye, with significant history of cancers since he was 6. The treating vet reviewed him and told us he has a malignant tumor in his eye, as well as the ulceration. The recommendation was to remove the eye and quoted $3200. We questioned extensively whether it was the right course of action it given his age and the fact he has so many health issues, the healing process and his ability to survive a general anesthetic. The vet reassured both of us it was a simple procedure, they would close the eyelid and it wouldn’t be an invasive procedure. We got the feeling they were pushing for the surgery, rather than looking out for the general welfare of our hound, and decided to seek a second opinion.nnAfter speaking to another vet, we were advised the surgery is indeed very invasive, that the heal up would be quite extensive, can be very complicated and has a lot of risks. The tumor has most likely spread into the optic nerve, and he probably only has months left regardless if we remove the eye. Also due to his age and with questions surrounding his liver, there is a significant risk he would not survive the procedure.nnThey also charged significantly over the quoted fee, claiming it was an emergency case despite being booked in.nnOur perception is that they are pushing for procedures, putting money in front of animal welfare. They were quick to dismiss our concerns, and didn’t consider the other age/health factors.nnVery disappointed, but glad we went to Morley Vet for a second opinion. They treated our old man with dignity, gave him medications and extensive advice on how to keep him happy on comfortable, and didn’t just want to maximize profit at the expense of our dog. They have helped us make his last months comfortable and enjoyable.
