Visited here as the Distinguished Gentlemans Ride finished here in 2023. Nice grassed areas as well as the historic jail. Shops, eateries apartments, and cinema are within the complex. I would definitely recommend a visit to this site if you get the chance. I think you can even do jail tours, which would be a unique experience.
quite remarkable what you can do with an old prison, they've kept so much of the best features of the original structures and repurpose them for modern use, you won’t know what’s behind the stone walls until you go in to explore, It’s another world behind the old prison stone walls, just realised an entire commercial area exists there with cinema, shops, supermarkets and restaurants. This old prison are very clean, ample parking space with wheelchair access. There are benches out in the front to bask in the sun while enjoying coffee. Did I mention there are Brewdog there? I really enjoyed my stay here.
It makes me so happy to see how the old jail has been transformed. Well done, everyone, on such an amazing use of this iconic Melbourne landmark. Can't wait to come vack.
2022: It's quite remarkable what you can do with an old prison. The build's taken some time and it's noticeably unfinished in the back section. What can be explored within the walls is a developing collection of stores, that expected of a mall.
It’s another world behind the old prison stone walls. I have driven past so many times never knowing what’s behind these walls. One day I wanted to explore the area and realised an entire commercial area exists there with cinema, shops, supermarkets and restaurants. The precinct is unique and stunning - excellent contrast of old vs new world. Even if you aren’t shopping, still a great place to explore and learn about some history.
Outstanding living History location. Outdoor Dining area filled with ambience and plentiful choices of tasty meals and snacks. Playground and plenty of grass area for kids to have a play while the adults can sit and watch, relaxing in a place oozing with history and stories to keep the kids fascinated and engaged. Will come back soon to try the dumplings, have heard they are great can wait to try!
Great IGA, great movie theatre, great addition with Brewdog opening, good dumplings and a variety of other stores. But definitely worth checking out. It’s modern and up to date with everything looking fresh and clean. It’s a popular venue, and can get quite busy. It’s worth booking eateries in advance, especially the dumpling place and Brewdog. I really like the movie theatre and it’s my go to for all the latest movies. Join their movie club for rewards points and member price on tickets.
The ghost tour of D division was a very unique way of seeing and hearing of stories of life in prison. Definitely not the place you would want to be incarcerated in.
Quite an incredible redevelopment of this very old gaol site. Still gives me shivers, but the shops are very nice. RITCHIE'S iga has pretty much everything you need, and then some. Lots of parking too.
Great vintage market over the weekend!!! It was great to see the locals are showing up on the weekend and pentridge got a lot busier to keep the business alive!!!
