Penny Royal Adventures

About

Penny Royal Adventures is home to a range of adventures for young and old.

Story

The Penny Royal offers a rich experience steeped in convict history dating back to Van Diemen's Land in 1825. Board the Dark Ride or the Brigg Tamar and immerse yourself in the escapades of infamous local bushranger Mathew Brady, scamper along the cliff walk, experience the quick jump, zip across the site, climb the cliffs and mine for gemstones and gold. Beware the authentic 24 pound cannon fire! After an action packed day, sit back, relax, and enjoy the picturesque replica 1825 stone buildings overlooking the lagoon as you indulge in great local food, fine Tasmanian wines and craft.

We had great fun rock climbing, zip lining and cliff walking and jumping.nEnjoyable and a good workout.nI have never done rock climbing, the staff were very helpful and supportive. Equipment was clean and well maintained.nThe ziplines were very quick exhilarating.nThe cliff walk gave great views out over the Tamar River basin and city.nWe didn't have time for the other activities ghost boat and old time displays.nA few of the unused attractions look interesting and with a bit of a clean up would be even better.nValue for money, I will spend a little more and stay a little longer next time.
It's ok but it's not a place to go when it rains. Recommend do not pre-purchase tickets is there is no need. Also the all pass tickets includes some things you would probably never do such as walking on stones and wood for $5, or panning for gold for $10.
Adventure activities only available on weekends so plan ahead guys.nnWe went here on a weekday so it was quiet but was still able to enjoy the view..nnLots of shops and restaurants..
I was not really sure what to expect coz I thought it might be a bit touristy, appealing to a younger group but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were helpful and treated me kindly given I'd hurt my knee earlier that day so no way was I up your rock climbing , and went on the dark ride,...a history of the first settlers and the hell they survived, but the ziplining adventures yes please and jumping 20 metres yes to that too.
AMAZING!! We had an absolutely great time at Penny Royal. We got there early Saturday morning and booked in to do the cliff walk and gold mining. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The cliff walk was awesome, the only negative - we wish it was longer, probably took us about 40mins to accomplish. The view from the top is beautiful. The gold mining was a little disappointing, there was no explanation of what to do and I’m not sure how often they refill the sand with precious stones and fools gold as we didn’t find much. However, I still fully recommend visiting, it’s well worth it!
