*2018 CLIPSAL CAR RACE CLOSURE - Due to road closures around the Bookshop during the set-up and running of the Clipsal Race, the Bookshop will be closed from Wednesday 28th February up to and including Monday 5th March* We will be open again from Tuesday 6th March. We are also open Tuesday 27th of February.
It is obviously frustrating to lose a whole week of trading and we hope our forced temporary closure will not significantly impact your own plans. Remember our huge, not-to-be-missed $1 book sale along the sidewalk outside the shop is on again on Saturday March 17th!!!!
The Oxfam Second Hand Bookshop welcomes booklovers and readers to browse over 20,000 shelved books on Tuesdays to Saturdays 9-5pm. We have a huge range of shelved fiction and non-fiction titles at very affordable prices.

2018 March 17th & October TBA: Huge $1 Super Sidewalk Sales: The Bookshop colonizes the Hutt Street footpath with 1000s of books all for $1 or less. Includes Fiction & Non-fiction, CDs and DVDs. Only twice a year. This is the best second hand bookshop sale in Adelaide for range and price!
2018 History Festival of South Australia: Program TBC for May.
Past: 2017: History Festival Exhibition: 'Mapping South Australian Street: Stories of Childhood' Free, interactive exhibition with contributions by the local community. Popular 'Streets of Adelaide' history talk by Dr Jeff Nicholas. Ticket cost: Gold coin donation. Feature Display of South Australian books in the Bookshop.
August: SALA Exhibition: Accessible and affordable bookish art themed around books, writing, reading, printing and storytelling. Family friendly. Free entry.

Whether you have five minutes or an hour to spare, looking for new reading material or simply need a last minute present, drop by the shop, say hello and discover the treasure trove within. But be warned, you will be hooked by the bargains!
All stock is excellent quality at low prices. And with a high turnover rate, the choice of books is being constantly refreshed with new titles from vintage editions to recent releases.
We offer a wide range of fiction and non-fiction titles which can be explored by category from Biography to Travel, Children's to Foreign Language, and Computing to Politics; to name only a few.
It is fully run by a committed and friendly team of volunteers with book sale proceeds supporting Oxfam Australia in fighting worldwide hunger, poverty and social injustice.
The bookshop also stocks a selection of good quality textbooks for secondary and tertiary students, as well as an eclectic collection of vinyl records.
We welcome donations of books. There is a temporary loading zone immediately in front of the bookshop which can be used to deliver your book donations if needed.
