Had a beautiful night with the girls tonight. Plus the meals were superb. So elegant and beautifully presented, while being very tasty. Congrats to the chef and friendly wait staff. Will definitely head back there soon. Here's only a few of what we ate.
Had breakfast with good friends at Ortem this morning. I purchased the bacon and eggs with sour dough bread and lemon lime and bitters to drink. The meal was great the drink was refreshing and the service was friendly and professional even though the place was definetly busy the servers kept up a great pace and were efficient and cheerful. Lots of emergency service personnel stopping in to get discounted drinks which was great to see!
Had an amazing experience, the food and coffee were exceptional. While the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Nice to have good customer service for a change.
‘Full bodied coffee’ - provided by a Melbourne roaster. A description that seemed accurate after the first sip. Less remarkable by the end but enjoyable. I almost got sucked in by the Sirloin breakfast steak, but the Veggie Benedict was the un-regretful choice in the end. The cafe is in a really nice spot. Just on the edge of the ‘CBD’ I guess, on a pedestrian friendly street that backs onto Gowrie? Creek. This, and the unobstructed morning sun does give the area a nice sense of openness. Also a good variety of seating offered, no table with high stools/chairs, but a long cushioned sit down bench which I like. Always exciting when the food comes out stacked up high ahah. Served on a note worthy plate too, at second glaze you realise its quite irregularly shaped. Surprising highlights aside from the huge very well poached eggs: The dukkah, especially the coriander seeds, was very good. There was a rare decent serving of spinach. The milk bun: I was a bit skeptical but it does add a nice sweet element. Ultimately though I was longing for the crunch and texture of a thick slice of sourdough.
Busy, be prepared to wait, not only for a seat but for service. Food and drink good, don't get me wrong just a bit slow in getting it all together. We had a bit at a time experience, instead of things arriving together. Inside and outside seating. Meals off the menu, special boards plus a Bakery section for other options.
Amazing food, though we had to wait quite a bit to get it. Maybe that's why it tasted so good. Coffee is ok to my taste.
Great lunch and coffee on our visit to Toowoomba during the Carnival. Service was fantastic despite being busy. Gluten free options, and staff happy to assist with avoiding sugar and flour. What I appreciated most was that when I pointed out that they had forgotten to serve me an extra item I had ordered as part of my meal, they handled the interaction in a way that put me at ease. Thanks and see you next time we're in town!
So good, I can’t wait to come back to Toowoomba, this will be our first stop. Amazing food, service was top notch and the general vibe was super pleasant.
What an absolutely amazing place! The best atmosphere and coolest staff. Loved it. Food was amazing, and omg the Lemon Meringue Cocktail! I'm from the Gold Coast, and am super sad that they aren't open in my area or I would be a daily customer. Loved this place and would recommend to anyone going past the area to stop in here.
Five stars, let's get that straight from the outset. Food was great, company was good. Atmosphere? Buzzing. Seats are mildly uncomfortable but if you nab a spot on the bench then you're set. Most impressed by their willingness to accommodate a custom order - had the avo on toast but not on toast, rather I opted to have it on one of the delectable croissants from the display. More than happy to oblige, service didn't show an ounce of frustration. Perfect score on service. Every staff member that passed us checked on our satisfaction. Definitely satisfactory. Full of humans but not too loud. I recently had an experience where this was an issue - not here. I guess the open space works well for that. Menu is short but I don't mind so much, makes making decisions easier. Would be nice if there was a croissant on the menu rather than just in the display but I guess you can't please everyone. Specials all sounded amazing and I'm disappointed in myself for not trying the "cookie monster" shake special. I disappoint a lot of people though so I guess I know how that feels now. I have it on the best authority other than my own that the choc chip pancake special was excellent. My colleague got the veg Benedict. Interestingly when ordering this, he was immediately offered bacon with it. Maybe it's vegan bacon, who am I to judge? Perfect scores make for difficult reviews because like what do you need to say? Everything was great. Definitely go here.
