My wedding was here in late February. It was the weekend it flooded.. even though we had booked a garden wedding, Cath coordinator was amazing at pulling off an indoor wedding. Not only was it so intimate and beautiful, the food was absolutely amazing. The amount of compliments that were given from guests just shows how capable the Gip’s staff are at turning things around in an emergent case. Thank you again for helping me have such a beautiful wedding. To the several sit downs with Cath prior to the wedding to calm my nerves to ensure I had the most amazing day I could dream of. It's taken me 21 years in Toowoomba to finally get to Gip's for dinner. The food was lovely, although the duck breasts seemed a little over-cooked for our liking and convention. The wine was lovely, although very little was available by the glass and people should be aware of that in advance. The wine list is quite extensive, however. The setting certainly isn't anything special, despite the attachment to the beautiful Clifford House, and I found the service lacking somewhat too. With a 6:45pm reservation and a restaurant at about half capacity, service was a little slow initially, and not overly attentive, despite three wait staff. At 9pm one staff member was trying to remove our unfinished cheese platter, which I declined, so she offered to put it in a takeaway container, which I again declined. We were still enjoying our dessert, after all! A little bit odd. The restaurant was empty and cleaned up by 9pm and they were clearly trying to get us out which I found a little disappointing at my birthday meal. Alas. I'm sure I will return one day, but for now I'm satisfied to have ticked Gip's off my list.
Gorgeous venue. We had drinks and canapes as a get together meet and greet before a wedding. Lovely heritage building, very pretty at night. Quality of the food and the standard of service was excellent . Forty people had a lovely time and we would absolutely go back?
Gip's did not jip on service or quality! We had an amazing meal of Moreton Bay Bug Ravioli and Pan Seared Salmon. The ravioli was moist and plump and sat in a rich buttery sauce with grilled prawns on the side. The salmon was just perfect, I don't think I've had one so crispy yet moist. The perfect balance. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Sitting outside was pleasant and quiet.
Tonight my husband and I decided to have date night at Gip's. And what a lovely evening we had. The food was fabulous, the flavours of everything we had was fantastic. Well let's just say our eye's were bigger than our stomachs we tried our best but we couldn't eat it all, we happily walked out anticipating the food coma that would shortly affect us. Our server Amy, was AMAZING. She was very informative and professional with a touch of bubbly attitude, she did warn us we may not finish what we ordered, did we listen? Nooo . Amy is truly an asset to your resteraunt. Thank you to all at Gip's we shall return soon.
The service was friendly and the food absolutely outstanding. The Moreton Bay Bug Ravioli had a great blend of flavours and textures, and the sauce was very flavoursome. Had a wonderful time.
We chose this place due to its description in the local guides re being situation in a old mansion. The actual restaurant is based next to the main building and does not offer the same old charm. We waited a fair bit for our meals which is understandable given that it was the flower festival, however we did not expect it to be that long. We would have appreciated a heads up as we were quite hungry. I had the beetroot gnocchi which was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend it. The rest of the group enjoyed the steak, beef burger and cumber veal special, however the latter was a small portion. The drinks were good, except for the cider. The service was however lacking.
Food satisfyingly different in presentation and flavour, lovely venue, great staff. Good range of wine’s and a friendly staff. Lots to admire and an excellent venue for a crowd
The best restaurant my partner and I have ever been too, the service was awesome, so friendly and didn’t care that we asked to change tables. The food was on another level, definitely worth the money. Will be going back for sure
Excellent food and the service was at a relaxed pace, which was nice. We had 4 entrees, two cocktails and a dessert. The caramel Chili pork belly was excellent and the Cajun spiced calamari also great. I asked about the cheese options twice, but the waitress said she didn't want to anger the chef by asking and simply didn't. Not sure if there was none and she was deflecting very well or what the issue was. The Green Goddess cocktail was lovely.
