I went in just to buy a few things, but I was harassed by the security guard who followed me down every aisle. It became extremely uncomfortable to choose my art supplies while being stalked like that. I want to point out that there were other customers in the store, but I seemed to be the only one being followed. I paid for my items and thought that would be the end of it, but as I was leaving, they asked to check my bag. This was ridiculous. I’ve never stolen anything, and the store has cameras—why not use them instead of subjecting customers to such uncomfortable situations? This experience completely ruined my day. I am a Latina artist in Melbourne, and I felt like I was being targeted because of my ethnicity. The request to check my bag and follow me around the store came directly from the manager. In the end, I returned everything. I don’t want to spend my money at a store that treats its customers like this. This happened today at 5:46 PM.
Why am I always waiting SO LONG for printing EVERYTIME?! So many staff and only ever very few behind the printing area. You need to train more staff to be able to work in that area, there are plenty walking around just not in the printing? Very frustratingnnApart from this it’s finenService is always nice and friendly but honestly the wait for the printing is always long every, single, time.
Disappointing Customer Service at Officeworks FitzroynnI recently had a frustrating experience at Officeworks Fitzroy when trying to return a faulty TV that I had purchased only four months ago. The TV had stopped responding to the remote and was stuck on a loading screen, making it completely unusable. Despite clearly explaining and demonstrating the issue, the store manager was very unhelpful and dismissive, insisting that the TV needed to be sent off for diagnosis rather than offering a replacement or refund.nnWhat made the experience particularly frustrating was the manager’s attitude. Rather than assisting, they seemed to take satisfaction in denying my request, smirking as they informed me of the store’s policy. There was no effort to understand the situation or provide a reasonable solution. They simply took a “computer says no” attitude. When It clearly states on the Office Works website that “You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods.”nnHowever they decided that the TV not working in front of their own eyes wasn’t enough and it needed to be sent off for an undisclosed amount of time to Office Works third party centre to access the problem. They further took enjoyment telling me that majority of the returns come back with “User Error” claims so if that happened I would be back where I was in the first place. They then walked away and said I’m busy I have other things to do today.nnThankfully, I visited the Richmond Officeworks store, where the staff immediately recognised the issue and replaced the TV within ten minutes. The difference in customer service was night and day.nnIf you’re looking for a helpful and straightforward experience, I’d recommend avoiding the Fitzroy store. The lack of professionalism and unwillingness to assist was disappointing, and I hope management takes steps to improve how they handle customer concerns.
Officeworks should be commended for having such a well stocked range of art supplies at this location.nThis store has a large variety of art materials such as paints, pencils, brushes, and accessories.nnThey do lack and decent fine art paper range though, besides basic sketchbooks and paper pads.
Could the printers be serviced please? - I rely on your photocopiers for teaching materials and really appreciate the service. However, in other suburbs, I have found equipment working efficiently. Fitzroy's photocopiers on the other hand, often stop working unexpectedly and lack staples. I asked at the desk for a stapler and was surprised to get a response suggesting I might steal it unless I did the formatting at the desk under the staff's watchful eye. Signed disappointed.
