Altho super busy our food order was taken by a friendly efficient lady and quick to arrive. Great spacious area and location, awesome option of sitting outside on the deck or balcony looking across at the water. Efficient bar service
Very nice place for a meal or just a drink, wonderful atmosphere and view and staff. Food is delicious at a very reasonable price I forgot to take pics of the meals, so nice I just couldn't wait to eat them.
Just a beautiful spot!!! Great views, beers and clever pub food!! Perfect for kids as you watch them from an outside table!! Great place
Great place to have a drink. Nice views. Food has gone down over the last couple of years. More like pub food which is quick to cook. Bring back AnuAnu prawns
Never felt more unwelcome in a fishing club in NZ. Nice view, terrible service. Go to the Whangamata club if you want to feel welcomed as an out of towner
Well I have to hand it to them, this crowd get five stars. Yesterday we got turned away as we were not 'members'. Today is a new day though. We discovered we could become temporary members and enjoy the power of belonging to thus fine establishment. The onion rings were great. They have lower carb options for the fussy. Phil the manager was great. His beard is truly epic. We were disappointed there was no sign of Shirley. We loved the place.
We went in a large group and everyone enjoyed their meals. Good prices. It was pretty busy but our meals were all ready fairly quickly and within a few minutes the whole group had their meals. a nice place to go as it's not too loud so you can actually converse with everyone. Very enjoyable.
This experience was a very enjoyable one overall; despite our party visiting on a public holiday and the end of a long holiday. From arrival, the club staff treat you with excellent hospitality and ensured we weren't left alone until we were completely familiar with all club procedures and customs. One gentleman in particular name may or may not have been Alan or Graham, was especially welcoming and gave us a tour of the club so that we knew exactly how to place orders and enjoy our time at the club. This is particularly important as the club can be hard to navigate and is a highly stimulating environment which left at least one in our party a bit overwhelmed. Guidance was therefore well appreciated. Decor and atmosphere in the space was enjoyable and reminiscent of the regional NZ of old. Club was also well patronised. Outdoor area in the club is nice with a good view of the estuary and Whangamata sandbar. There is good space out here for dogs on leash although an excitable pooch next to us was obviously feeling a bit under the weather and vomited. The food is ok but you won't be tricked into thinking you're at the Café de Paris. The fish is avoidable but the calamari is actually quite nice maybe just share one though. I have also been asked to share that the salt comes in powder form. Overall, worth a visit for the atmosphere and culture but I'm sure there are nicer meals in this wonderful town.
Lovely spot for breakfast
Great food from a place with a lovely view.
