It's OK here with the best feature it's great location near plenty of eateries and the theatre district. It's not far from shopping either and there is an IGA next door for supplies. There is no room service. The rooms are adequate in terms of size and facilities, but more than a little tired. The bathrooms need a makeover. Carlton Gardens is also close by and that's well worth a walk around as are the nearby neighbourhoods on the other side of the gardens.
The girls on the front desk are amazing. Always so happy and obliging. The “free Wifi was appalling. That really needs looking at. On my doona was a old blood stain. Cooking facilities very poor. Hot plate didn’t work. Bath very dangerous for children and elderly. The rooms were lovely, spacious, but definitely need heating. The position of this hotel is perfect. One of the advertisements I read it said it had a restaurant and cafe. Neither were available.
This apartment is extremely dated and tired, very unclean , bathroom mouldy, floor needs a good bleach and lounge stained. Security is a huge issue, the front door is left open all hours and despite signage in the lift saying you need your door swipe to get to your level this is not the case and anyone off the street can access all levels. Terrifyingly we experienced this one night with someone forcibly trying to get into our room. As for the room key on 4 occasions we had to get a new key as it continuously didn’t work, seriously just buy some new ones that aren’t worn out. One morning the fire alarms went off and we had to evacuate, we were on the 24th floor so started down the stairwell. There was no communication from staff at all and on several levels in the stairwell the lights weren’t working so we had to use the phone on our torch. The stairwell leads you to an outside garden with no street access which I feel like would be a trap if there really was a fire. Good news false alarm according to fire brigade after we stood on street directed their by another guest with still no communication from staff. Only positive bed was comfortable, however second bedroom door wouldn’t shut as bed too big to enable it to close. We paid premium rates for this room as it was Aus Open but really feel this was just absolute price gouging. Expected so much more from the Oaks brand. Although I’ve had an awesome time in Melbourne definitely would not recommend this hotel.
Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 5 nights. I'd say it's more like 3-3.5 star not 4 star. Cons: 1 of the bedrooms is around the corner from the lounge room with aircon so when it was 35+ in Melbourne for a few days the bedroom was so hot and stuffy despite it being cool in the living room. Dishwasher didn't come with instructions and didn't really work properly. A few little things need maintenance eg. rip in couch, and couch probably needs replacing very saggy. For the price you pay would be nice to have daily housekeeping, don't need fresh sheets or towels but at least bins emptied. Pros: Lovely staff on reception at every interaction especially Nilam. Washer and dryer worked well. Excellent location and spacious apartment. Upon check in there was a nasty smell coming from kitchen sink but it was promptly rectified. Beds were very comfy. I wouldn't stay here again in summer due to the bedroom being so hot and stuffy, but would stay again at other times of year.
While the location is fantastic, the disappointment for me was the lack of utensils available for cooking your own meals. If you are bringing your own items for cooking breakfast, lunch or dinner be advised to bring your own cooking utensils, spatula etc.... I found the coffee cups to have been chipped, this potential could be a health hazard. Conveniently located next door is an IGA Express and a 7eleven just down the block. Rooms a spacious enough for those travelling with a portacot. Apart from that, the rooms a spacious and basic but they do serve their purpose. Food & drinks: Try the Spaghetti Tree for a family dinner
It’s not the best hotel in Melbourne ,,our apartment had no cleaning service we don’t know why .hot water was good washing machine worked ,the lift was so slow 28th floor The floors in our apartment was dirty the carpet square was dirty The lounge and chair were so uncomfortable . And so dirty . U had to go downstairs to get tea or soap powder . I would say staff was friendly but not really helpful I would not stay there again. It’s not to central if u walk everywhere better off staying at the grand chancellor But there are trams free within walking distance
Booked a room via phone call, asked for two single beds, upon arrival found a king bed. Asked for problem to be rectified. 2 hours later " housekeeping " turn up at door with an arm full of sheets scrunched up as if they had been stripped off another bed. Went to get into bed that night to find the Doona cover was a single bed mattress protector with sheets over the top. The mattress protector had yellowing stains on it along with short black hairs. Every single wall in suite was marked and dirty. Bath stained. Also found short black hairs on sides of bath Elevator very rickety. For the price I expected a whole lot more. Will be looking for accommodation elsewhere.
The Wi-Fi sucked, the washing machine broke, the bed sheets were dirty, the floor was dirty the, TV had low resolution, the table only had 2 seats when it was supposed to have 4, there wasn’t enough furniture, and only 1 bathroom when the other hotels usually have 2 higher quality toilets, the water was cold, the sink was too powerful and there were barely any outlets too charge our devices. I wish too never come back again and I hope no one else comes back too.
Room was ok however washing machine was broken, dishwasher did not work and handle broken, split system heater did not work. Walls stained and dirty, floor dirty and carpet stained and worryingly sticky, Toilet did not flush properly. When staff alerted to problem I was told maintenance will have a look … maintenance never arrived . Never again Oaks On Lonsdale . Very poor . I’m sure the reply they send will be the same cut and paste response they have sent multiple reviews . Rooms: Dirty and poorly maintained … do not stay here
Room was filthy, carpet was disgusting, we had a studio apartment and it was nothing like the photos advertised on line! The bathroom was dirty and and had stains all over the bench and mould in the shower! Would never recommend anyone to stay here, ever!!!Rooms: 1/5
