They definitely deserves one star. 
It's actually better not to have a toll road account, because they won't notify you when your balance is below the threshold, and then you'll pay more in penalties etc.  Also, if you sold your car and didn't login to your tollway account and de-register your car there, you might find yourself paying for the new owner trips. All-in-all - big disappointment.

tried to pay my toll online and was told 3 weeks later that the amount I had paid for my toll had been allocated to future trips and because I hadn't paid my $9 toll -- it was now $19! I hate organisations that make life difficult. Nzta is certainly one of those. A spiteful organisation that is actually owned by NZers'... Yeah Right!

Blocks off a lane on Highway 1 approx 60km north from Hamilton which causes cars to merge into one lane during Easter holidays. Traffic was horrible

NZTA leaked a full scope of my personal information to a criminal 3rd party with an unjustified request. . NZTA did not review or check the person requesting the information and just decided to send it to them. Just imagine what they would do with your credit card details.  Exercise extreme caution when dealing with NZTA

I am always pleasantly surprised when contacting the NZTA with the friendly efficiency of the ladies who answer inquiries, so unlike most government departments.  Thank you ladies you are stars.
