A Cantonese cuisine restaurant in the Adelaide CBD. The restaurant decor was a bit dated and old. The staff were friendly and nice. The food was good in total. There were very nice items such as the beef curry and prawn dumpling but for instance the duck was average and the beef noodle was a bit under seasoned and over cooked. But in general, i will visit this place for sure to try more items on the very long menu.
Very nice food especially the Thai style ribs we loved them. The food was fresh not pre cooked. Definitely we will be back
Great food. Service was a touch slow and needed promoting. But decent experience overall.
Food was pretty stock standard for a Chinese restaurant. As a first generation Australian Chinese, I found this to be very similar to other spots I’ve had around Australia that are high quality. If you’re looking for a local opinion, here is one. If you’re not Asian, here are some tips. I’d recommend ordering multiple dishes so you could all share, otherwise having one dish for yourself is INSANE. Like they say everything in moderation. Don’t have too much for yourself and also it would be greatly appreciated to have a common set of cutlery to grab or share the food. This is a review not an instructional message on how to eat. LMFAO. Just getting enough characters for points. TLDR: good food, recommend yes.
Had Sunday yumcha alone after a long 36hrs flights from Europe. Kingdom did not disappoint. The duck was fatty, the tripe was a wad of gelatinous goodness, and the chicken feet was packed with umami. Nevermind the curt, non-smiling service. Ignore the loud atmosphere. Or the suspect hygiene. This place unapologetically delivers one thing - undeniably good Canton food.
I think I got overcharged today at yum Cha. Tea for 2. And at the end she changed the number to scribbles. Didn't said why. Two adult drinking tea, but charge over. I am in table C5?around 1300hrs. And I think she put SP dish four time as it was clearly three dishes only. 14.8 four times. . Can u guys please count again. I don't mind to get review and return some back. I was shocked.
My visit to Kingdom Chinese Restaurant will most certainly be a memorable one. I’d like to begin this review on a positive. On the night of our visit, the waitress wearing the Tom & Jerry t-shirt delivered some truly stellar customer service and most certainly deserves a raise. Unfortunately this is where the positives stop. Between the dismissive service from the waiters banging dishes on the table without apology, the argumentative nature of the restaurant manager, and the subpar and ever so slightly under-temperature food, my entire party and I left with both a figurative and literal bad taste in our mouths. During our time at the restaurant, we were often disturbed and startled by one particular waitress violently and carelessly throwing dishes into the unhygienic dishwashing containers which were stored right next to our table. We ordered food fairly promptly, however some dishes were not delivered for up to two hours afterwards, leaving certain members of our party with particular dietary requirements hungry. The icing on the cake were the sheer amount of arguments I witnessed customers having with multiple different members of staff and most notably, the bitter restaurant manager. The rude customer service, the long wait times, the average food and the off-putting hygiene practises in the restaurant are all what make this venue brilliantly unique. I truly hope the one waitress who made our night somewhat positive finds a new job at a different restaurant because she is way too good for this place. In all honesty, I would visit Kingdom Chinese Restaurant again - not for the same reasons for which I would revisit a different restaurant, but for similar reasons that would encourage me to buy a ticket to the circus. Vegetarian options: Took like 2 hours for a plate of beans which was contaminated with chicken. This wasn’t specified anywhere on the menu.
The service at The Kingdom Restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. On arrival at a lunch time session, we were simply ignored for 20 minutes while waiting to be allocated a table at reception. The maitre d seemed disinterested in newcomers and that attitude and lack of enthusiasm seemed to permeate to all your staff. Try to be a bit more interested in your new customers, with a simple “hello, how can we help you, we will be with you soon” being a welcome greeting and a good example you can learn from any other good restaurant in Adelaide.
Went here for yum cha today. Menu was little limited compared to other restaurants. Food quality was good. Service was poor. Inattentive disinterested. Waited nearly 15mins for someone to take our order and drinks that never cane out. There are better places out there, we won’t be back
Service was poor, The food came out really slowly noodles were so dry and tasteless, this place used to be decent but they’re food is not as good as it used to be and service is way below average. If you don’t mind paying for good food and decent but getting food coming after an hour.
