I requested a report from Dr Nielsen in regards to a matter to which he ignored and I received no correspondence whether or not he was going to do it. I attempted to reach out to him multiple times but re wives no reply. As such it’s going to incur a expensive out of pocket cost to me to see another Dr. I stated via email I wanted to make a complaint to which he replied to that stating he cannot communicate with me while there’s a complaint. This tells me he had the time to at least reply to my previous requests but he blatantly refused because it would appear he couldn’t be bothered. Very unprofessional, arrogant and causes more harm to people with mental issues rather than helping them.
Extremely unprofessional. I saw Dr Nielsen on a single occasion over 5 years ago. I remember he literally answered a private phone call from a plumber during my appointment. The call lasted at least 15 minutes and I just sat there quietly. At the time I was suffering from depression and was in a bad state and this interaction was definitely a back step in my recovery. I have only now remembered this experience after the memory came up while talking to a friend about another poor doctor experience. I would rate him 0 stars if I could.
Dr Andrew Nielson is a great psychiatrist. He is polite, friendly and professional. He helped diagnose my mental health issues in 2018. Its great he has an office at Booval now. One thing i will say is Dr Nielson doesnt realise how smart i am, i know when he plays mind games with me, saying he is in a hurry today, yet he dordles with his drawings. Saying stuff that contradicts what he is doing. He is seeing how i will react, i just dont react to what he is doing, because i dont play games. One lady said it was a waste of time, he spent most of the session drawing my daughters name. You need to think like a pychiatrist, he is observing out the corner of his eye, he is seeing if your daughter is going to get angry, disassociate or have a multiple personality pipe up. Hes quite ingenius.
I find him to be professional and takes the time to figure out what would be best for me. He seems very polite and has a good bedside manner. After seeking help in many others places I think he is going down the the right track of what has been a long drawn out process for me with others in the same profession.
Dr Nielsen is kind, compassionate, considerate, humane and thoughtful. Extremely intelligent, takes care to understand difficult problems and complex life circumstances without leaping to premature suggestions as to how to solve them. A tad eccentric but engagingly so. Thinks creatively and comes up with innovative practical solutions to life problems. Diligent in explaining theories and perspectives in psychiatry to allow for informed choice about treatment pathways. Extremely supportive and patient. Has a cheerful, entertaining and optimistic conversational style. A proper gentleman in whom one can be comfortable placing one’s trust. A real gem.
Dr. Nielsen is unprofessional, unethical and arrogant. His behaviour with regard to how he has treated our adult daughter is nothing short of contemptible. He accepted government payment yet failed to provide the service for which he was paid. We reported him to the Health Ombudsman who agreed that we had a valid complaint but conceded, that there was nothing they could do. Dr Nielsen lied to the Ombudsman, claiming to have made contact and statements that were never made. He has now refused a formal FOI request, made by the patient, claiming that it was not her who made the request. The wording used was that which is recommended for a formal FOI request but he will not accept this explanation. His actions have caused more harm than good to an already unwell person. He is a danger to people with Mentall Illness, particularly LGBTQI and Transgender. STAY AWAY.
I owe a great deal to Dr. Andrew. 12 years ago I suffered a mental breakdown and was hospitalised at Toowong Private for 6 weeks, thankly Dr. Neilsen then had has practice on premises. It took sometime to sort out my meds but finally we got the balance. I've hade no need to see Andrew for some years however I thought I should touch base and upon reading some negative reviews thought it only fair to balance the books a little
Dr.Andrew Neisen epitomizes everything that is wrong with the profession and should be deregistered for his complete and utter lack of moral & legal ethics. A friend of mine was diagnosed as being Aspergic and as a number of High functioning autistics suffer from extreme stress PTSD without even talking to my friend and he was not a client. He falsely fabricated an affidavit which was used by an opposing lawyer and barrister in court. Fortunately the judge saw right through it and dismissed the claims. He seems to be the compliant professional who will do and say anything for money and to hell with the consequences. His considered opinion was that my friend "May have bi polar disorder". I have suggested to him thst he should sue the charlatan for medical malpractice Steer clear of this doctor there are plenty of good psychologists -psychiatrists who are there to help
Dr Andrew Neilson has an extremely poor judgement level regarding ill patients and has a lack of "duty of care" towards his patients. I would strongly recommend seeking either secondary advice from another physician or seeking another doctor.
One of the most thorough doctors I’ve ever seen.
