I attended this school from 2011 - 2013 year 7 to mid year 9 Going to this school destroyed my mental health and i am still undoing the damage caused by this school. I went from being an extremely happy primary school kid to an extremely anxious, depressed teenager that struggled with self harm. The school coordinators and staff cared more about the length of my skirt and the colour of my hair than my actual education. There is an extremely cliquey vibe amongst the students, with wealth being a huge topic. The more money your family had, the more you were “accepted.” Religion was forced down your throat and you were punished if you had opposing views or didn’t want to participate. Seriously, I got nothing but depression and self esteem issues from this school. I moved to Churchlands mid way through 2013 and had an amazing high school experience. At CHURCHLANDS, My education was put above my appearance. My mental health was addressed and every teacher communicated with me to make sure I had what I need to complete my studies and feel ok. I made awesome friends of all different backgrounds and the cohort felt like a big family. Send your kids to churchlands.
Once Mr Omara is gone this place will be five stars
Was a first year student here back in the 60s. Planted most of the footy grass ovals, as this is what they made us do if you misbehaved. Instructing to see how things have changed & read the reviews .
Hosting Voice to Parliament events is concerning. Pleased we sent our children to an alternative private school.
Great school, I think I just had a pretty tough year and never did any homework. Lots of bullies in my year, and I ended up bullying others as well because I was bullied myself and messed up. The school itself is good, but make sure you communicate with your kids, nobody ever asked me if I was OK. The teachers don't care if you are getting strangled, threatened or bashed ever. School was much safer once I was in a group for protection by year 9 - more or less.
One of the better schools in the area It's a SHS with coeducational so your children don't grow up with issues
As a parent who has had children at Newman, I do not recommend this school. Newman is catholic in name only, and, like so many 'catholic' schools these days, is all just about social justice causes. I recommend that you save your money on school fees and send your kids to Churchlands High down the road.
I went to this school and now I'm sending my kids here. It's a beautiful campus, inclusive community, amazing facilities and being a K-Y12 the kids have a very strong connection with it over their whole schooling experience.
Definitely recall quite a few dero's being produced around my time, thankfully I was a bit further up the road
