Story

At Hollywood we ‘Excel with Honour’. We work in creative, collaborative teams to develop our students’ understandings, skills and attitudes, according to their individual needs, to prepare them for their further education and growing participation in the wider community. Our school caters for 340 students, from Kindergarten to Year 7. Enrolment trends indicate growth, due to the quality education program we are providing, our attitude of reflection leading to improvement and the care our staff take to treat each child as an individual.

At Hollywood Primary School we are concerned with the development of the whole child. Effective policies and programs provide clear expectations of standards of behaviour in a supportive and caring learning environment. Close school/ family/ student links are established, nurtured and maintained, ensuring an evidence-based, individually tailored educational partnership built on honesty, openness and a shared desire to do the best educationally for the child.

Hollywood Primary School grounds are well maintained, and are shaded by three heritage-listed Morton Bay fig trees. The playgrounds and sporting facilities are expansive, and include a 25-metre swimming pool, which is a shared school and community resource.

Mission

The Hollywood Primary School Facebook Community is designed to be used as an additional communications tools for the immediate school community – primarily for parents, teaching staff and school administration. It will be used to connect with families, share information and provide reminders in addition to and in support of other existing communications tools such as our school newsletters, class emails and school website.

Please note: Registration and account security from Facebook states that “You are not permitted to have a Facebook account if under the age of 13”.

We do not encourage student to have Facebook Accounts, nor to join the Hollywood Facebook page. Bearing that in mind however, please remember that many of the children who attend Hollywood PS may view the posts and pictures on the page. As a guiding principle, use the assumption that a child may read it and post comments with this is mind.

We do, however, need to have certain guidelines and protocols.

We'd love you to 'like' and add positive comments on posts and pictures posted on our page. This encouragement and acknowledgement of wonderful things happening in our school community is valuable.

Please refrain from asking questions which are more appropriately addressed to the school administration. These can be asked during normal operating hours. Eg..."When will reports be sent home?"

We would love our community to feel a sense of camaraderie and to find genuine value in what we share on our page. If you feel something which does not meet these guidelines and protocols appears on the page, please contact the administrators and/or make an appointment to see the Principal during operating hours.

We do not wish to see:
• Profane, defamatory, offensive or violent language
• “Trolling”, or posting deliberately disruptive statements meant to hijack comment threads or throw discussions off-track
• Personal promotion of businesses etc.

Please be aware that we reserve the right to remove any posting or other material that we find off-topic, inappropriate or objectionable. We trust that people who like our page will understand the reasons for this.
