The Association provides a focus for Local Government and community participation in the major natural resource issues of the Murray-Darling Basin.

Story

The Murray Darling Association was founded in 1944 as the Murray Valley Development League. It is an association of Local Government municipalities in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Victoria, as well as community groups, businesses, individuals and agencies with an interest in ensuring that the Murray-Darling Basin continues as a viable and valuable asset for all Australians.
The Association provides a focus for Local Government and community participation in the major natural resource issues of the Murray-Darling Basin. It provides information, facilitates debate, identifies needs and priorities, undertakes projects and education initiatives, and promotes research.
