Saw the reviews and thought we would try it out, I was shocked to see they did salads, wish every fish and chip shop would offer that too. I got the chicken and bacon salad with ranch and it was really decent size and so yum!! Nice the husband could get the hot stuff and I could get what I wanted from the same place...thanks for giving us all options
The snapper & potato fritters were yummy - crispy batter & very fresh. Seemed to be very popular with locals which proved to be a very good recommendation. One of the best fish & chips shops we’ve been too & have travelled a lot around NZ. A+
This is my first time ever leaving a review, I was incredibly disappointed in what I got after I've head so many good things, I ordered 1 scoop of chip 1 fish and a burger. The burger was so dismissal it wasn't worth photographing.
New owners same great service and good portions. I ordered 2 fillets and got four pieces about the size of a 2 fillets, would have been nice to have been told though. Apart from that all good.
Good food and very lovely staff not at all grumpy. Clean premises and clean oil. Blood and guts chips are great. Lots of different little nibbles eg. Crumbed prawn cutlet. Even serves dessert, cheesecake in the fridge. It's a busy little place but it's easy to see why. It's worth the wait if that what you have to do
My friend has been going here for 13 years. The quality has gone downhill. Fish burger was more like a potato fritter. No beetroot and 1 slither of tomato. These burgers have been outstanding in the past.
Delicious fish and chips, burgers were great, and there was a huge variety of options to pick from. Definitely a little choice paralysis, but in a good way. Had the curry chips, they were bangin’!
My son and I went here for the first time in ages. We brought Fish, chips and a Gourmet Paua Fritter. It was so yummy and you could tell the oil was clean. We’ve had some really bad experiences here in the past but this time it was amazing.
Best fish & chips. Very generous portion. We were just passing through Foxton and had read the great reviews so drove out to the beach to buy dinner.
Went to Mr Grumpy as saw the reviews online were mostly positive however they really lived up to their name. Lady on the phone was rude and grumpy, the place was an unhygienic mess, the food was almost inedible and the portions were pathetic. Only good part about it was the canned drink. Definitely do not recommend coming here unless you want greasy fish n chips with a side of grumpy.
