I had the platinum experience but have previously been with just general admission. Staff were nice but not very knowledgeable on what or where things were. The bean bag seats were comfy but I don’t know if that and a blanket justifies the price. Perhaps including some snack or drink too? Next time I wouldn’t bother paying extra for a bed and just bring a picnic rug. Still a nice night activity
Such a different way to watch a movie, in the botanic gardens, under the stars, with birds flying above, and fireflies above. I’d describe this as a movie + experience. It’s like a picnic and a movie, with an outdoors camping vibe, bundled into one. It’s definitely a family friendly experience you can get your well behaved dog as well on a leash. Now that I’ve experienced this once, will definitely come back again. You could get a picnic blancket and supplies nibbles, a bottle of wine, plastic cups, a rubbish bag, blankets to snuggle in when the movie starts and it’s dark it does get cold and a bit windy at times and I’d recommend some bug spray for the mosquitoes. There’s food trucks and drink trucks over there as well to buy supplies from before the movie although I didn’t try it- seemed good
Great night out in the summer. Grab some picnic supplies and enjoy a nice movie on a warm summer night. You can BYO booze and food. You'll see flying foxes circling over you as the show plays on the screen.
Love going to the Moonlight Cinemas. It's a family tradition. If only the sun set earlier, it always ends up being a late night. Bring food, a picnic blanket and some comfy pillows
My partner and I went on a fun surprise date night and it was a wonderful time. They have bean bags you can hire for $10 per person, make sure to bring a blanket and pillows for comfort and warmth as it does turn quite cold when the sun goes down.
Good family event/experience, would go again but I would probably be more selective with the movie choice and I would recommend taking a picnic
Sound was broken on left side for first half of the movie. Movie itself sucked, which I can't blame them for necessarily, but it was just the wrong type of movie for the setting. Nearly fell asleep in the park. Put something a bit more engaging on, not slow still life style stuff
Do not book tickets here if you are staying as an international guest in Melbourne. We bought 4 tickets to the value of over $200 on golden grass. Weather was perfect and the night was cancelled and they would not refund our tickets! So $200 down the drain!
It is a fun thing to do on a summer’s evening. Saw Banshees of Inisherin. There was a glitch midway through the film when the screen went black but they got it up and running again quickly. Make sure you bring comfy seating because you are sitting still for a couple of hours. The provided lounges look really comfy and will do a better job of keeping your back warm than any camp chair will do. It does cool down after sunset so bring a rug and dress warmly…even though the days are hot, the nights are not. Get there around 7:00 to get the best spot if you are BYO-ing your own seating. The women’s loo queue is long just before the screening begins. My tip is to jump the queue into the empty men’s loo.
I'd recommend booking the bean bag seating. it gets docked a star because there were issues with the audio channels. Voices came out nice and loud but the music and background sfx wer very low. it was very noticeable.
