I have been trying to find a GP for almost a year now that I feel safe and comfortable going to. Trying a new practice is always stressful and daunting but the team at Balwyn Doctors were just incredible. From the reception staff to the pathology nurse and the doctors themselves I was made to feel comfortable and welcomed. All the staff were genuinely lovely. Thank you to Dr Lee Teh for being so considerate and understanding even though the discussion was difficult. I cannot fault my experience, or the staff or the service provided. I would recommend anyone looking for a new GP to visit here. I am so grateful to you all. Even Maycee, my service dog, was welcomed and respected. Thank you.
I was attracted to Balwyn Doctors friendly service when I got the jab one year ago. I went to see Dr Deborah Tse for second opinion two weeks ago, she is such a professional and kindly GP, her patience is very helpful with my health. I would like to recommend my friends to visit this clinic when they need.
I have always had great experience with this clinic. The staff are very friendly and kind. The environment is very clean and welcoming. The appointment are kept right on time and the doctors and receptionist are great listeners and I trust their expertise.
I attended the doctor as I had an earache, I was informed the fee for the consultation would be 80$ when I called on the phone. I arrive, finish the consultation and am presented with the EFTPOS machine displaying 145$ which I was expected to pay. I informed reception, I was informed that the fee would only be 80$ over the phone to which she told me. "That's the standard fee" And that my consultation went overtime. So I had to pay more. I was not informed of any of this before the appointment. Please be honest with your patients. Misleading them and expecting then to pay almost double what they were quoted. Is plain wrong.
Me and my family have been attending Balwyn Doctors for many, many years now, with Dr Tilak being the founding and Principal Physician, and in recent years Dr Ashvin and Dr Lee among others as a new breed of young doctors supporting him and the clinic has grown and modernised immensely over time, however while maintaining the highest level of service and patient care being consistent over the years. The physicians and staff are caring, take time and are extremely knowledgeable and upto date. I have no hesitation in recommending this clinic and its doctors most highly who have cared for me and my other family members over the years. Thank you so much Balwyn Doctors for your care for our family over the years. David, Allison and family.
After having the vaccine here, I ended up with a frozen shoulder. The Doctors at this clinic decided not to assist me with my Victorian Government approved right to claim all my out of pocket expenses. This has cost me dearly and has taken a massive toll on my mental health and overall well being, it was SO DISGUSTING that they have turned a blind eye to my enquiries and requests as though it never happened. I will never trust another doctor ever again. I have to live with this disability and will continue to pay for regular physio treatments no doubt for the rest of life! Appalling you couldn't care less about it! I'm sure there are many vaccine injuries coming out now so I hope you start taking action and be accountable for the part you have played in this!
Dr Tilak Arunachalam is a miracle worker for me. I've been coming to his surgery for over 20 years and his knowledge and care are exceptional, as are those of all his associates and practice staff.
Great Doctors, but admin management needs improvement. We were disappointed today getting into the clinic and got told that our booking was not in the system. While trying to work out what was happening with the receptionist, our conversation got interrupted MULTIPLE times by phone calls. I understand that it is a busy time for clinics but maybe get the task DONE CORRECTLY before trying to MULTITASKING. It was a total waste of our time and a simple "I don't know what happened" is not good enough.
This clinic is lovely and modern, and nice and airy a huge advantage in these covid times. I came for my booster shot. They offered an appointment quickly and welcomed me warmly despite the fact that I wasn’t an existing patient. All staff were incredibly warm and professional. Hats off to the doctors who are so lively, friendly and kind despite days filled with short vaccine appointments which don’t allow for any really rewarding human interactions. All credit to you!
I've been a regular patient here for 27+ years but recently, unfortunately there have been too many serious breaches of privacy and trust in the competance of the practice, that I am now searching for a new GP. To be very clear; Dr Thilak, who has been my family GP since I was a toddler and Dr Ashwin, Dr Emma and Nurse Cath have been fantastic and always professional - the problem I have is with the reception staff. Recently I have had 2x OTHER people's vaccines be added onto MY immunisation record, and I have had someone else's address be added to my medical file. Misinformation on medical records is an incredibly serious breach of privacy and trust. When I spoke to the receptionist asking how this happened and asking for it to be fixed asap, the response I get is as though this is MY problem. They have still not called me back. In the last month I have also had 2x medicare rebates for 2 sessions be incorrectly charged, and it has taken 1 month 6+ phone calls and 3 emails with receptionist and the manager to finally resolve this so that I am not out of pocket for the reception's mistakes. The last time I visited the practice in person I had a photographer randomly walk in to collect his equipment and a receptionist enter with a plate of cakes asking the nurse if she'd like one in the middle of my consultation! Being a private practice, when you are paying a premium for a service, I would expect a much greater level of discretion, professionalism and care. If the practice genuinely cares for losing patients - the operation, starting with the reception, might need a review.
