I’ve seen a number of different doctors here. There is a large variation in quality of doctors, reception staff and pathology staff. Some days it’s not amazing and I had a particularly bad experience a few months ago, but 5 stars for Dr. Firth, who called to follow up and later fit me in after an adverse reaction to medication. Dr Firth is professional, kind, responsible and diligent. Separate to that, there is bulk billing, with a flat $20 for after hours consults which seems very reasonable.
Excellent experience here at Balwyn Central Medical. Dr Nisha is fantastic and actively invests her time and energy into her patients. It has been refreshing seeing a Dr who actually cares.
The dashing young man Sugeesh was an honour to do business with at reception. Extremely efficient to book an appointment. Definitely ask for him and his personal touch with customers
Booked appointment that morning and called before we went in the afternoon , then was told we didn’t book the appointment when we arrived. The receptionist made us like it’s our fault
Appalling customer service. I booked my appointment a week in advance only to arrive and be told it had been cancelled, which it hadn't. I showed them my phone log to prove I hadn't spoken to anyone at their number the day before and reiterated I hadn't cancelled my appointment. The receptionists were unconcerned and dismissive of the fact they have obviously cancelled the wrong person's appointment and simply told me that the slot has now been given to someone else and I was the one who had to reschedule. They made no effort to get to the bottom of what went wrong, to find out whose appointment should have been cancelled or try to find a way to get me seen by a doctor.
It is convenience to me. As I live nearby. I did a test lately and I have been informed that the result was negative. I received 3x text messages on my phone, and a letter on the mail that i need to make an appointment. I make an appointment. When I saw the Dr. He asked me what was the issue. I told him, i got 3x text messages and a letter asking me to be here. The Dr looked at the system and tell me my result was negative. I think this is purely wasting my time, health care resources and Tax payer's money. The Dr's valuable time can give to someone more in need.
Misdiagnosis lead to emergency admission at the RMH with appendicitis & sepsis! I had an appointment at Balwyn Central Medical clearly in pain and presenting with all the symptoms of appendicitis. The doctor did not even check my stomach, take my temperature etc... but said I had an intestine issue and told me if I didn't feel better in 24 hours, to book another appointment. Next morning I was severely unwell and sought a second opinion from another clinic who diagnosed suspected appendicitis and sent me straight to emergency. I did have my appendix removed but also had to have a second operation a few days later to drain an infection which had leaked. It appears this doctor no longer works at the clinic and I sincerely hope she is no longer practicing medicine.
I believe it is not only me confused to find the place. So if you drive thru whitehorse road, the clinic is actually accessed via direct chemist. Just go in and you find your way to the clinic. Alternatively, it is actually accesible from the back of the building with big parking areas. Overall the clinic is good. They open til late and do online booking.
Been with the practice for 5 years. It is convenient as it is after hours practice. However have to wait ages for some drs waiting room. From time to time they have very rude reception, they have a good well mannered male receptionist though. The management should train most of the girls before hiring. Always notice the sneaky gossiping and careless behaviour there. Some doctors are good specially Nisha Patel is Knowledgeable and understanding and trustworthy. and some are Arrogant as if they are the centre of the globe. Misdiagnosis is quite common. Overall convenient hours but rude staff who only cares about numbers.
Dad had a telehealth appointment booked on 8th June @ 6.50pm and only to received a call @ 8.39pm. I returned the call and was told by the male receptionist that the doctor is on another call and he will let the Dr know to call back. After half an hour later and still have not heard, I called back again and was on hold for 15 minutes before the man at reception desk told us the Dr has just left. He then offer to book another telehealth appointment for today 9th @ 10.20am with another Dr. Received a telehealth call and the female Dr said she needs to speaks to my Dad as she has not seen him as a patient. I said he is not with me and she said she can't continue because of Medicare Card and and hung up without hearing any explanation to the the scenario.....Dr seemed rude for a first impression on the telehealth call. I do have the Power of attorney as well as medical for Dad so I called the reception again. Managed to speak to the lady who answered the call and explained the whole experience since last night and then this morning. At least she listened and sympathised for the lost cause for a telehealth booking that gone sooooo wrong!
