By the comments I can say Toni Mohammed hasn't changed a bit. I did stay here about 2 years ago. In one of his other houses where he stores backpackers. 80 90% didn't get a job from his as promised. And the ones that did get a job was mostly cash in hand, didn't count towards rural work 88 days,etc ... And even in these conditions he thought it was reasonable to raise the rent from $150 which is ridiculous already to $160, . Answer to your comment below: I already had a job, just needed a place to stay which as written above wasn't worth its price. And just Sharing the experience of my back then housemates.
Tony does not play by the rules and he can’t blame Larry ... Tony has overcrowded rooms for greed and unclean kitchen, rats come around in the front room & cockroaches in the kitchen! He has no care for you stuff or safety and had breached the law of privacy one of many .. he feels like he can let him self in to all the rooms who knows if he has taken out anything. He does ask 24hour prior to entering I bought this up with him and he then tried to threatened me to say I was going the next day. At one point there was 20 people in one house and Tony was carrying out building with out permission at the same time, an inspection was carried out and they found out to many people were in the house so he pulled 10 bed out the house !!!! People how travelled to Melbourne for the weekend ended up with no were to go ! I’m Warning you not to go... the cars he offers to got to work with are unsafe and Tony carries out he’s own repairs.... he has refused to pay my deposit back .. This is the first step Tony just pay me the deposit
I stayed here for around 3 months or so. The owner Tony tries his best to make sure you get the best jobs and that you get paid fairly by the farmers. The accommodation is in nice self contained units with a good atmosphere amongst all the backpackers there. Thanks Tony!
I stayed with Tony and i had a great time. If you’re good to him he’ll be good to you. He helped me out in lots of ways and I actually learnt some things. If you’re willing and committed he will get you some good work.
Had a great time in MIldura Central Backpackers in the appartment style accomodation. Each unit has two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and bathroom/washroom. The manager held bi weekly BBQs where anyone could volunteer to help out which was a great way to get to know other people. I arrived on a Friday and had work on the Monday morning which was hourly paid. The manager was always keen to find work for anyone that came and also turned away people when he knew no work would be available soon, I appreciated his honesty with this. We had a great atmosphere in the hostel with a community/family feel which really made me experience there. I was put in contact with a local aboriginal football team which was another great experience coaching the girls team and playing for the mans team. Overall, great experience in Mildura that I'll never forget and a huge thanks to the manager for the help, support and advice.
The owner Tony is a slavedriver! You can book for one week only and unless you stay for about 2 months you won't get any decent fruitpicking job there! The accommodation is dirty and old... Don't go there.
The guy from the hostel Larry was a mess. He told us there will be enought work but there wasn't, put us in a flat without a fridge, dishes and cooking utensils telling us there will be something tomorrow, but nothing at all. He doesn't even answere calls! Don't go to Mildura!
great place. loved it! tony ran us to the pub every weekend , made us christmas dinner . met lots of friends ... comfy like home cheers tony
