Inspired by the British royal Kate Middleton, Middletown offers a brunch experience where a beautiful and elegant interior meets a well curated food and coffee selections.

Story

Brunch in Melbourne has come a long way from a cafe that serves breakfast all day. It is not just a lifestyle; it is now part of Melbourne culture. And the idea of Middletown came from wanting to return this customer’s appreciation towards brunch culture in Melbourne.

A cafe that is beautiful and elegant on the inside but still welcomes anyone that comes through the door. Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, was chosen to be the muse to bring this idea to life. She’s undoubtedly royal but has this humble persona.

To be elegant and royal but remains humble became the design goal. The walls are painted in this royal blue color; bold but not striking. Marble bench tops at the bar and kitchen, plus brass trims on the light pendants complete the royal touch.

For the floor, we use 2 different shades of terrazzo tiles and install them in diamond pattern to match the look in Westminster Abbey.
And on one of the wall, there’s an illustration of a trench coat and Kate’s engagement ring. Subtle hint to show that Kate “lives” here, without putting her portrait. As we often see her wearing a coat in different occasions.
