Gym itself is a good beginner gym for people starting and getting a feel for gym.nnManagement however is very very poor. So is the electronic sign in and membership fee system. I had a year pass and they didn’t cancel it when they should’ve.nnI get an email from the manager saying I have to pay the difference to keep using the gym. For a mistake they made, I said no way. They also accused me of talking to reception when times were busy. Literally never gets busy till like 5-7:30pm.nnI was an ex student and now I can happily say I am leaving a gym with staff that are very probably underpaid and always trying to eat you out.
The gym has everything I need to train. Enough squat racks, a. deadlift platform, facilities for all kinds of sports, and a lot of equipment with good variety too. They replaced the assault bike too. It's free for students and is relatively cheap if you're not a student.
I worked as a receptionist at the Massey University Recreational Centre and, unfortunately, my experience was not positive.nThe key issues I encountered:n- There was minimal training provided. I was expected to learn on the job without proper guidance, which led to confusion and mistakes that could have been avoided with adequate training.n- I received complaints from the manager for not doing jobs which I was never told or taught how to do.n- I was rostered for night shifts alone which got pretty depressing just sitting there.n- One of the managers never really wanted to be supportive.n- Previously, staff were allowed to use their laptops during their shift to work on their uni work when quiet, but management removed this privilege.nnThis is truly one of the most unorganised, unstructured work environments i've encountered. However, the gym itself had everything a beginner needed which was really good!
This is a great full featured gym with weights, basketball courts and more. They have a rock climbing wall too.
Nice indoor badminton and basketball courts. Front staff are very friendly
