Established in 1989, Mario’s Italian Restaurant is a dining institution on the Gold Coast. Specialising in authentic and modern Italian cuisine, Mario’s offers a great variety of tasty dishes, including seafood, steak, pasta and pizza. My family have been going to Mario’s on and off for the past 30 years. Service is always great but our meals very average. The worst margarita we have ever had. It was as though they had sprinkled powdered Parmesan and forgotten about it in the Pizza oven. Cannelloni was amazing so was the veal with prawns. Massive serves. The chefs just needed to time things a little better as half the meals were served 20 minutes later than the others. I would have understood if it was busy but this was not the case.

Probably the worst Italian dining experience I've ever endured. We waited a long time for any staff member to pay any sort of attention to our table but when they did they were extremely pleasant. Not their fault it's under staffed. The food was the worst part of the night. Every single dish we ordered was dry and tasteless. One of our party ordered pizza which came burnt and again tasteless. Seems as though they try to accommodate tourists whom more than likely they will only see once. Avoid at all cost which now that I mention it. It's not cheap at all so you would expect better. Never ever again.

Huge disappointment. Such a let down to the old owners. Huge improvement needed. The girls ordered Lasagne. The amount of salt in the sauce will cause you get high cholesterol and high blood pressure! Shocking. Next time we come down I’ll give this place another go and see if there’s been any improvements for me to re-review. For now it’s getting a 3 star review.

We had a wonderful birthday dinner at Mario’s. we could not be happier with the service, meal and all round experience. Our waitress Tegan was delightful. A very happy family outing. Thanks Mario’s
