Compared to some of the newer, architecturally impressive libraries across Auckland like Te Manawa in Westgate or the Takanini Library and Community Hub, Manurewa Library feels quite dated. The interior design is basic and a little tired, with older furnishings, worn carpets, and limited natural lighting. It doesn’t have that polished, airy feel you get when you walk into a more recently developed branch. Still, there’s a certain charm in its simplicity, and many locals appreciate the familiarity.nnOne of the standout positives is the parking situation. There’s free one-hour parking right outside the library, which is rare in Auckland and incredibly convenient for quick visits. Additional parking is available behind the building, and it’s rarely difficult to find a spot. The rear entrance is wheelchair accessible, and there are ramps and automatic doors for ease of access. For those relying on public transport or taxis, there’s also a local cab office nearby, making it easy to get a ride to or from the area, especially for elderly visitors or families with young children. The library is also located close to the Manurewa train station and multiple bus routes, which adds to its accessibility.nnInside, the library still functions well. The book collection is strong, especially for children, teens, and readers of Hindi and Punjabi—it holds one of the best South Asian language selections in Auckland. The public computers and free Wi-Fi are appreciated, and the printing and scanning facilities are regularly used, though sometimes a bit outdated or in need of maintenance. The children’s area, while not fancy, is spacious and often filled with kids after school or during holiday programs.nnWhat also adds value to the space is the presence of the Citizens Advice Bureau right next door. Having CAB services available in the same building means locals can get help with legal, tenancy, and financial matters while they’re already out visiting the library. This co-location makes Manurewa Library feel more like a community support hub rather than just a place to borrow books.nnStaff are another highlight. They’re approachable, patient, and always willing to help. Whether it’s assisting someone to find a book, helping with a printing issue, or guiding an older visitor through the computer login process, their efforts help make the library feel warm and inclusive.nnTo sum it up, while Manurewa Library may lack the shine and modern features of Auckland’s newer branches, it still delivers where it counts. It’s accessible, practical, and grounded in the needs of its community. With excellent parking, a handy taxi option nearby, solid local services, and a genuinely helpful team, it remains a valuable asset to Manurewa. Still, a refurbishment wouldn’t hurt—fresh paint, new furniture, better lighting and updated tech could easily lift this library to the next level.
Friendly helpful staff, has a variety of books and learning material including computers and JP services. Fun reading area for the kids there as well.
Exceptionally well maintained, beautiful and quiet library. Has quiet place where you can read without being disturbed. Plenty of parking and located next to nice restaurant so you can take a book and read outside. You can browse internet and take color as well black & white prints / scans.nOn the top of that if your Auckland resident it's completely free.
Like many people says here, the facility is well -maintained, and the wall is beautifully designed. Lots of car parking spaces are available. People who use this library are respectful to the others, thus you can enjoy the reading in a quiet environment. Most importantly, all staff are so nice and supportive there. This is one of our kids' favourite place. Manurewa should be proud to have a place like this...and we are very proud of this library!nnI hope they will decide to open on Sunday as well...we will definitely be there on Sunday too. Looks like some people have the same opinion as us
I love to be in here all the days. Great book collection. A lot of programs for children. All nationalities cultural program will conduct here.
