Used to love coming here but I’ve noticed that during the recent few visits the experience and overall quality have declined a fair bit. First of all, to be charging $38 for a zombie cocktail, it NEEDS to be in a tiki cup. I remember asking why it wasn’t in one last time and the bartender said it’s because customers always steal them. I was like, what? One tiki cup costs like $15? Even if people do steal them, you should still be able to replace them. Secondly, the other cocktails around the $22-24 mark are presented very plainly without much garnish or other ingredients. It is still a nice cocktail lounge for people to come and relax before or after dinner in Chinatown and also suitable for date nights, but probably not the best choice in terms of value.
Minimal signage, dimly lit and tucked away in the back alley of Chinatown. Striking Asian aesthetics, draped with zombie cocktail overtures.
I absolutely adore this place, music is always amazing, smells like incense and feels so intimate and cozy. The bartenders are always super friendly and the service is always great. The only thing that sucks is how packed it gets and the wait time for a drink can be up to 30 mins or more, could you guys please consider adding a QR code on the tables to order drinks because standing at the tiny cramped bar area for so long can be such a vibe killer
What a place! I had one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had - Tropical Heat. This place is one of Melbourne's best kept, hidden secrets. The music was on point. The vibe is relaxed and cosey. Can’t recommend highly enough. Bar staff are professional mixologists.
What a place. Like, what a place! Thought i was gonna get murdered getting there but boy did Manchuria not disappoint. Got a small booth and had great cocktails. The amstophere was phenomenal and I cannot wait to come back here
Really nice cocktails, lovely staff and good live music. Could commit a bit more to the theme decor wise but couches were very comfortable.
Great Atmosphere of what is a hidden gem. Was recommended this place by a friend and it did not disappoint. Its up a completely blacked out staircase however once you get in the atmosphere is great and so is the drink selection. A great place to book or try to walk in as its not very obvious from the street.
A hidden gem. Ambience and drinks were amazing. Tad expensive but still worth many more visits.
Gorgeous bar with asian-inspired decor. I don’t drink cocktails unless you count Tito’s dirty martini as one but they have a nice list. No Tito’s but they have ketel one so not a problem. Bartenders are super friendly, unlike the ones you tend to run into in speakeasies in New York. but on average everyone is nicer in Melbourne than in the US anyway, highly recommend this place and go early to avoid it being crowded
Fantastic, tucked-away cocktail bar. Amazing vibes with a great range of drinks that were all delicious. Came early when it was quiet and then it got pumping when it's busy; great vibe. The service from the bartenders was top notch. Will definitely be back.
