We had banquet C which is $108.80 per person. It was disappointing and not up to our standard. The Peking duck pancake is thick and duck is tasteless. Fried rice is bland. Contrary to the fried rice, the Mongolian beef is over powering with sauce . One bite to the beef, we could not even have a second bite . The ambience was pleasant and service was okay. Won’t want to waste any calories in this restaurant.
I went to my friend's birthday dinner and ordered a few things. Everything tastes all right, not special. Schechuan not sure if I splet it right chilli oil was tasty though. It usually mixes with won ton but we asked to have sauce separately. I wouldn't get through all dishes without that chilli oil not the normal one on the table as they are quite plain. Prawn with garlic and butter is just that ... prawn, garlic, butter and no vegetables. Service was okay. Decoration is quite nice like you know that you're un Chinese restaurant. Of course, it's a little overpriced for the taste of food but it's in Crown casino so understandable. Would I come back? Maybe .. not but it's convenient though if you go to have fun at Crown.
We went as a family of three for brunch at around 1100ish, just as the opened for lunch. I was a tad taken aback at the service from the get go, as it seemed like they were in a hurry for us to order. Once I asked what the rush was, they slowed it down. A few people walked in afterwards and it was the same with them. They barely had a chance to sit down, when they were asked what they wanted to drink / order. At least I was glad it wasn't just us. Observations: The food: Absolutely amazing! Every dish we ordered from starters to the main were full of flavour. The portions: Adequate enough to have doggy bags afterwards. We were stuffed! The drinks: The complimentary Chinese tea, Chinese beer, house red and mocktail were nice. The price: Whilst not cheap, it wasn't exorbitant for the Crown. We paid ~$90pp The service: Meh. The service at their fast food outlet in the food court was better. Thus costing this review two stars.
Man Tong Kitchen is a beautiful restaurant and staff are friendly and attentive. The menu has a big selection along with a very comprehensive wine list. The dumplings are next level and you can taste the difference in the fillings. The wontons in chilli oil was a stand out. The spicy fried squid had a very light batter and the squid was perfectly cooked. The tender beef in XO sauce had a complex flavour profile with a pleasant hit of chilli. There's a big menu to work through and I can't wait to be back!
Its a great restaurant with great food. The waiting staff are good too, however the hostess was a bit rude and abrupt. Even though we had a booking she first assumed that we did not have a booking and her attitude towards us was not friendly.
Wow !! What a great service. We had the duck pancakes , fried rice and Mongolian . All were fresh and prepared with lots of flavour.Highly recommend.
Meal @ Man Tong Kitchen Express. . The quick-service casual dining kiosk of the renowned fine dining restaurant establishment, Man Tong Kitchen Express is located in the food court near its more esteemed sibling. . Ambience at Man Tong Kitchen Express is shared with the rest of the food court, which means communal seating and warm lights. The array of dishes on display look so appetizing. . Service at Man Tong Kitchen Express is helpful and patient, staff provide clear explanations on the ordering process and demonstrate good product knowledge of the dishes. . Food at Man Tong Kitchen Express is Chinese cuisine, with a focus on stir-frys and deep-fried items. Portions are large, even their small plate serving is sufficiently filling. . By all means, these are well-executed Dim Sim AUD $2.80, not overly greasy, with a crisp crunchy dumpling skin exterior, and a tender moist filling on the interior. The minced pork and cabbage carry decent meaty savoury sweet salty vegetal earthy flavour, though the texture is a little too soft for my liking. Personally, I can't mentally accept the flavour of this dim sim. . The Honey Chicken AUD $5.70 has meaty strips of boneless chicken, coated in a flour batter and dunked in a blend of sweet and sour sauce with honey. With a crisp tender bite to texture, and lovely sweet sour floral flavour, the honey chicken was more appealing than I'd anticipated. . I like their rendition of Stir-Fried Beef With Onions & Bell Peppers AUD $5.70. The strips of beef are tender with a light chew, the white onions are soft with a gentle crunch, and the bell peppers / capsicum have a satisfying crunchy juicy texture. All of it is enhanced by the rich thick beef gravy with black beans and black pepper, lending meaty salty savoury vegetal earthy peppery spice flavour. A pretty worthy rendition of stir-fried beef with onions & bell peppers.
Are you a lover of authentic Chinese food? If you are then Man Tong Kitchen is a MUST for Awesome Appetites. I’ve been here a number of times to celebrate different special occasions. This time around I went to celebrate my favourite girl completing her RSA. And to wish her farewell as she flew back to Thailand for 3-weeks. Every time I’ve visited the customer service has been AWESOME. Plus, the atmosphere, vibe, and interior design inside makes it a great place to dine-in with family and friends. I would 110% recommend Man Tong Kitchen for Awesome Appetites if you are wanting to experience the taste of authentic Chinese food without having to fly to China.
Nice ambience and good selection of dishes. Service quantity is a bit small. The taste is quite good.
Absolutely love Man tongs, delicious food everytime, lovely staff and great cocktails! The dumplings are so delicious and the BEST fried rice you can get in Melbourne. If you haven't tried out Man tongs yet, I highly recommend you do. You won't be disappointed
