Kitchen seemed ok. Front desk staff ( a strawberry blonde lady) very good. They were the only good things. The foot wide gap you're given to enter and exit the room would be less of a problem if they didn't have regular earthquakes potentially trapping us in. The room was way overcrowded with 3 bunk beds in. There were clothes in front of a fire exit that looked like they had been there for some time. One bathroom open on the floor I was on which had mildew/ mould issues. We felt like the hostel was taking advantage of people on a budget by cramming them in to small and dangerous rooms.

Staff was friendly and helpful. The dorms where big so I had enough space to walk in it and not to trip over bags what you have in other hostels. I slept like a baby the mattress where super soft, but the pillows where to thin. You can hear the noice from the street, I'm not a fan of cities. Kitchen was clean, fridges where stuffed and smelly, I trowhed away some milk from last year. Bathrooms where fine the volume of the water in the shower was perfect. Overall experience good.

Spent one night at this hostel and I have to say that you're booking this hostel for the location. Beds weren't comfortable but sheets were clean. Sucks that you only get 30 minutes of free WiFi a day and have to pay for WiFi. But otherwise friendly staff, clean bathrooms and kitchen.

Hmm where to start. Got an upgrade after getting an unserviced room. The upgraded room was filthy. Stained bed linen, mouldy bathroom, paint and plaster falling off the walls, unclean shower, a burping toilet. Also the pictures on their website were of a more expensive room than what we booked - very misleading. Add in the dodgy lift, dodgy keycard readers, earthquake damage repaired with corflute (!!!) and some shocking reviews on both Google and TripAdvisor, you have a pretty dodgy place that needs a lot of money spent on it.
The only redeeming quality was the British girl at reception who was friendly, helpful and clearly taking flak for bad management. Location is a big plus though and the Free Stuff bin is a nice touch for guests to put stuff they don't need for others to use. Backpackers with low standards may find this place ok but do your research before you book!!!
