Fantastic spot! Resort is exclusive and let's face it, you'd go to Europe to spend $ like that for most of us. The remote isolation means transport costs and logistics is a real challenge and i get that. I was on a boat anchored in the bay for a week sailing up from Cairns (not as glamorous as it sounds) but seriously do a fly in day trip from Cairns and you'll have enough time to explore and experience the wonders. I flew back on small plane view of the reef was cool.

Untouched wilderness: the island itself is interesting loads of wild life especially birds and lizards. Lots of walking tracks to explore. However the snorkeling is amazing. The best reefs are no more than 30 metres from the various benches. Millions of fish, clams and corals. Swim with the turtles and cute little reef sharks. An amazing experience. There is a resort but I hear it's pretty expensive. Camping is available. Various small airlines will fly you there from Cairns.

Very social spot for live aboard cruisers. Fantastic views, clear water, nice walks. If you cannot relax here, you probably cannot anywhere.....

5 stars are not enough to rate Lizard Island resort. It's as if you have your own private island. We were skeptical of "all inclusive"... several options to choose from at all times. Truly fine dining in the most relaxed environment. Staff was incredibly friendly and sincere. No cell service on the island- wifi only in the common areas helps you disconnect. Several activities available if you're interested.
