Story

In 16th century, northern part of Thailand was the independent kingdom called "Lanna Thai" until early days of Chakri Dynasty. It became part of Thailand. Today, art and culture of the old times still remains as you see when you go to Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai.

We hope that our authentic Thai food would make your evening the most enjoyable one.

Very nice atmosphere with genuine artifacts & decorations... Kind & generous people with an old Thai lady still cooking traditional recipes that you can taste the difference... Quite cheap for the location too... All 5 stars Food: 5/5
The restaurant is opposite Royal Melbourne hospital quite convenient. The service and premises is good but a bit cramped. The meal is good but the beef either in pad thai or green curry was a bit tough.

My repeated visit after 10years. I was more than happy seeing Lanna Thai still standing and serving delicious food when I travel to Melbourne this time. Did they not disappoint me at all. I order my favourite tom yam soup together with some of their fish cake, fried chicken wings and basil chicken over a glass of their house wine. Even though we were there at a bad time with huge group dining at that evening and the room were just too loud that my partner and I had to eat in silence. Still, we were pleased with the service staffs and we enjoyed the food and our night. Would definitely visit if we are in Melbourne again.
The ambience is soothing and appears very traditional.. The service was welcoming and food was served super quick.. We had the Green Curry, Roti with Peanut sauce, Lemon grass stir fry. Every bite was flavourful and had the right blend of spices. I also loved the serving plates which were handmade in Thailand. Definitely worth visiting if you love Thai cuisine..
Nice little thai restaurant in North melbourne. Best pad thai and pad see ew I’ve had! The chicken and beef satay were a bit bland but the peanut sauce is quite tasty. Ambience is nice. The place feels very secluded and serene. Good for a date night or a little get together. Service is also good!

Stayed nearby and decided to try this place. The Panang Curry was amazing. Hands down the lightest and best curry puffs I've ever had. Lovely service. Highly recommend!Food: 5/5
I've been coming here since staying at Ronald MacDonald house in 2009... Have always found staff courteous, friendly, and the food, well no complaints here, always great n yummy... Always a Go To when visiting Melbourne....Food: 5/5
