Everything was amazing from the food quality to the friendly staff and prompt service. We had the buffalo and BBQ wings, fried dill pickles, chips and apple pie, all of which were absolutely delicious and filled us up. A strong highlight on our trip to Kyneton!
Always a pleasure eating at Donkeys. Mark the owner is an absolute pleasure, the staff friendly and the ambience is quite cosy. They specialize in Fried Chicken, though we've tried other items on the menu and they were good too. Anyway, I would recommend a bucket of chicken to share for two people. They have a great range drinks and if you like something sweet after your meal, they have you covered. We've been coming here regularly over the years snd I can't see that changing any time soon. If you pass by Kyneton, make sure to try this place!

What a great little find in Kyneton! If you love fried chicken this is the place for you! With great decor and super friendly staff the atmosphere is fun and unpretentious. The food is delicious! In particular the chicken and the gravy!! Would totally recommend this place as it has it all!
The best fried chicken you’ll ever have! Incredibly moist and juicy without being greasy in the slightest. I also highly recommend the fried pickles and Mac and cheese. Oh, and the spicy margaritas! Fabulous service and always a great feed! I couldn’t recommend it more! :
Great food with local beers. They were booked out for the night but the owner is kind to oblige us to have a decent meal outside their restaurant in the pedestrian walk way with their warm services. Nice evening and experience to dine in the cold.
Amazing staff, did not have to ask for assistance at all since they tended to the table often. Such a friendly - Im assuming - owner, and the rest of the staff same. The food was absolutely banging, I’ve been a few times and not bothered by the pricing since, I paid good money for good food. My brother had the “don’t ask” burger which he loved, fries were fresh and crispy and perfectly salted, we shared two sets of wings: Kim’s and BBQ which were thick and juicy, Mac and Cheese was good, and the cheesecake was so yummyyyyy. We had lunch at Donkey yesterday and it was a great experience. I'm coeliac so we were given a special menu showing which items could be made gluten-free - amazing. We ordered the spicy buffalo wings and fried chicken with chips & slaw and were not disappointed, everything was delicious. Easily the best GF fried chicken I have found, I would definitely return. The service was also genuinely kind & friendly which enhanced the whole visit.
Wow what a hidden gem! Amazing menu with lots of gluten free options. Fried chicken is delicious and sides perfect. Hubby loved his burger. Cocktails were outstanding. We went in early for lunch so managed a table easily but definitely pays to book in advance. Outstanding service. Can't wait to visit again. This place was a great surprise while we were visiting Kyneton. The food was fantastic and the service was friendly and welcoming. The Tenders and the fried pickles highly recommend.
