The best and authentic Japanese restaurant in the local area. Bit expensive compare to other stores but worth the price. Remember to make a booking before heading to store. They might be either closed or fully booked… Super friendly staff. Customized the sushi for us even though its not on menu.
Was very luck to try the the weekly special. Cost indoor setting, but food is packed full of flavours. Freshly made. Good pricing. I was told there is always something new to try here! Will definitely be back!
Recommended by my Japanese friends, Komaru definitely left quite an impression on me. I came here with the family and was able to sample a number of lunch sets. I found the seafood here to be very fresh, with sashimi and sushi being the highlights. I also enjoyed the grilled mackerel that was cooked perfectly while all the food was beautifully presented. Prices were also reasonable with most sets under the $20 mark.
An authentic Japanese restaurant without the high price tag of fine dining in the city. Very cozy small restaurant and have friendly customer service. Might be abit of waiting time for lunch. Chirashi rice bento is the best and amazed by the arrangement by the chef.
Finally got a chance to try Komaru after reading the positive reviews. The restaurant is very small so expect to wait if dining at lunch as they don't take bookings. The food is very fresh and reasonably priced, the specialised in Osaka sushi so definitely worth a try. The standout is the yellowtail katsu set. The Fish Katsu is very light and non greasy. I'll give your traditional Fish and Chips a run for their money.
This is the tastiest and most economical Japanese restaurant in Sydney! Tiny place but homely and friendly service. I loved the fried white bait just like the fried fishes in dim sum I used to have in HK, my sushi nigiri plus maki and sashimi platter only $36 and comes with miso soup and my husband’s 10 piece sushi platter $36. The marinated octopus sashimi is so good!! We also greatly enjoyed the mochi that came with red bean, soy powder and brown sugar syrup. I just wished I had more room in my tummy to eat more! Make a reservation over the phone, as there is limited seats in the restaurant!
Simply amazing, think Azuma or yoshii level freshness. So good the table next to us made a booking the following night when paying! Better than any meal I had in Osaka and right up there with the rest of Japan. Whitebait karage was not oily and very fresh, the sesame spinach was similar to what you expect at any top restaurant. I was blown away by the kaizen chirashi and planning our next meal here. It's BYO, so bring your favourite Japanese sake or beers. Went back for lunch a few days later. Amazing value and the quality is just as good as dinner.
Cute Japanese restaurant with generally tasty food. We recently ordered a sushi platter to takeaway - half nigiri, half pressed sushi. Decent variety of fish and it was pretty good but I still prefer their ala carte menu. They have interesting weekly specials announced on their Facebook page. If you're planning to dine in, be prepared for a wait as it's popular especially on the weekends. I believe lunch in walk-in only but bookings are available for dinner.
The salmon negishio at lunch is great. The wakame seaweed udon is large and very affordable, for one large full bowl being only $12. I highly recommend this shop and it’s food.
Last day I stayed in Sdyney.I found Japanese restaurant near my home.Komaru is the small size but quality food and service mind.I so impressed and recommend.
