Nice place, quite crowded. I am not expert in Japanese food but everything is freaking good. They have dishes that you can’t usually find in the other Japanese restaurants Highly recommended
A cosy and reasonably priced Japanese restaurant. We really like their teppanyaki chicken, it’s a must have, too bag they ran out of teppanyaki squid as that’s very good too. The other good dishes are Sashimi and Beef Tataki. We also like the Japanese sake there especially Dassai. Make sure you have reservation as they are pretty popular.
My absolute favourite Japanese restaurant in all of Sydney. This restaurant is almost 30 years old and every single time the quality and freshness is there. The value as-well as the service is outstanding.
We have been loyal customer of this restaurant for a long time. Tonight I took one of my most cherished friends for her birthday dinner. Our booking was at 7.30 and we were rushed through like we were in a third world country on a time frame of 30 mins. Was the food ok? Yes? But we complained about the speed of service and the fact that there was no air conditioning. They said it was Covid. Really ? They get so much business they don’t care anymore, The waitress - if you could call her that / named Nat / was so rude . I think it is best she find another job rather than making customers paying $85 dollars per head so unwelcome. You used to be great but there are so many great Japanese restaurants that love, respect your customers and treasure your business. Try Izakaya samurai. I have no affiliations with this restaurant but they treat you like a family and care. After 30 years -Kyushu - you no Longer should be riding in your coat tails. Goodbye.
Can I put less than 1 star!!! Please, please try anywhere else! We went there after some time of not going on Saturday night and got thrown at us soy sanmuce by Nat. The older chap owner/whatever laughed when I said we had been there many many times in past years when I said why are we getting kicked out at 9.30 and thrown the bill Recommend trying anywhere else in the area as the food is nice but there is just as food and cheaper!! Don't go
The food is amazing. In my opinion the best chicken teriyaki I have ever had. Sashimi is fresh and everything is clean. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is the service is not good. You always have to ask for a waited and none of the staff are friendly.
Love the food! Make sure you book coz the restaurant gets really busy especially on the weekend.
Really impressed all the tasty food! Especially the teriyaki beef. Very busy at rush hour, I would suggest booking a table first:
Terrible service, not adhering to the social distancing rules AT ALL, 2 of our mains took one hour since ordering to arrive. We arrived at 6pm, being told when I booked that we had to leave by 730pm. However our mains arrived at 7.12pm so I asked the waitress whether we still had to leave at 730 given it took 1 hour for them to come. When I pointed this out, the waitress gave me a stink eye / rolled her eyes at me!!! Outrageous. I was really unimpressed with the food as well given the price and also as this place is packed out most nights so I had high expectations. Really underwhelming, terrible untasty pieces of sashimi... Sushi rolls had no flavour and just loads of rice.."large" sake was probably 200mL or so... A complete rort!!!! A MUST VISIT - for COVID MARSHALLS !!!! We were packed like sardines and staff not wearing masks or anything. Terrible experience, terrible food, terrible evening, I will never go back.
Been to many Japanese restaurants in my life in several countries including Japan, Kyushu is right up there with my top favourites. This establishment in Neutral Bay is a must visit. Do remember to make a booking, it’s always busy. They do pretty awesome sashimi and sushi. But the thing to rave about is the teriyaki dishes they have. The chicken one was a real winner. Lightly battered and pan fried till crispy. Coated with a teriyaki sauce that is literally THE best teriyaki sauce ever. Let’s not compare the sauce to top yakitori places, those sauces are of a different class. Kyushu’s teriyaki sauce is divine. Perfect sweetness, saltiness and of course umami. The deep fried octopus is almost as good as the chicken. A real dilemma for me. Honestly I would think any of the teriyaki dishes would be awesome. Do yourself a favour, go with an expectation to eat something good and you will end the meal feeling great. Thank you Kyushu.
