The food is ok but definitely doesn’t taste as good as it did before. I enjoyed the bento and sushi but the rest were average. Was there a change in management/ chefs? Also the service is underwhelming. Came here for dinner with the family early Saturday evening so it was pretty quiet. Water wasn’t served until asked for, hard to get the server’s attention as they were all out the front desk/ kitchen area. There were four servers and only one had a friendly presence. I’m not exaggerating when I say I didn’t see the other three smile at all - this really dampened the mood.
I have been regular since I had a spicy sashimi don which can remind my hometown. Their staff always provide good customer service as well.
A good place to try Japanese Food. PRAWN PARCEL STEAMED GYOZA CHICKEN YAKITORI sweet-tasting SALMON SASHIMI fresh OYAKO DON MISO RAMEN no char siu in there but fried pork chop The environment is good.
Difficult to know whether to give a 4 or 5. We have been turned down many times due to not making a booking or because they had run out of sushi. Yes, true! Service excellent. The sushi and sashimi platter and the takoyaki were very good, gyoza good, pork donburi ok. Good value for $. They are one of the longest running restaurants in Gungahlin town centre have been consistent over the years. I don't see any ups or downs.
One of the best places for traditional Japanese food in Canberra. It is reasonably priced and the seafood always tastes fresh. The menu is large and they do lunchtime bento boxes. My personal favourite is the udon and sushi set - best of both worlds!
Great ambiance and delicious food! Overall, it was a great experience.
Underwhelming. We used to love this place. Our vegetarian rolls were victims of shrinkflation, making them the most expensive food for the mini amount of food. Left underwhelmed, hungry and sadly won't be back.
New 3/7/20: They have really dropped their standards. Whist the food still tastes reasonably the same, they dropped half the menu and the wait staff were terrible. They forgot 4 out of 7 of our dishes. Old: I get amazing food every time I go here. Have had the 8 course set menu, I highly recommend. High quality and good value.
Our last lunch at Kokoro. We have been going there for years. Food quality and taste gone all the way down. We had a lunch today and we both have awful upset stomachs. We didn't have anything else, so definitely Kokoro food. Not going back.
Love this place!!! Kokoro is our favorite to go sushi restaurant in Gungahlin. They have lots of different dishes to choose and they also have some lunch specials if you want to grab decent Japanese meals for your lunch! Nice atmosphere, friendly service and good food. The sushi and sashimi are really fresh whenever we order, love all the Udon noodle soups, recommend the deep fried cutletschicken or pork, also the special rolls.
