I'm puzzled by the negative comments. They do accept cash (I paid cash today), and it is pretty obvious it's order-at-the-counter, and not "table service". The staff are very helpful and friendly. I saw them go out of their way to meet a customer's request for a photo (a staff member even fetched their instant camera to give them a photo on-the-spot). And staff do not accept tips. Their frank friendliness is refreshing. Best of all, a fun playing card is provided in lieu of a table number, and customers can use it to "vote" for how Kerekere shall give back to the community. The only downside is there are relatively few options on the menu. But even this presumably has a plus side, in less food going to waste!

The KereKere Green cafe is co-located with the Fitzroy Gardens Visitors centre. It offers a good range of drinks including coffee, tea and bottled drinks such as orange juice, apple juice and water, snacks like scones with jam and cream and yoghurt with berries and granola, toasties, sandwiches, and ice cream. Our coffee was good. As well seating inside, there is seating in both the front and the back courtyards. When you place an order they give you a large playing card. There's a noticeboard on the wall with some events on at the gardens and in Melbourne. The Fitzroy Gardens gives this cafe a lovely setting.

Lovely place, friendly people, good food. I enjoy the name as it’s reminds me of my wife Kerry. 2nd time I’ve visited here, really enjoy the garden walks and the friendly atmosphere.

Nice place. Good price. Although disappointed that we couldn't buy a cheese toastey at around 4:30pm.

I enjoyed my herby chicken toastie with lemonade. My sandwich was smaller than my mates but was tasty, properly toasted and enjoyable. The bread was good. The herby chicken was good and also had cheese and beetroot. The lemonade was awesome, perfect quencher on the hot day. I liked the decor and that some of it is made from trees that fell in a storm a few years ago.
