Katik is often called the best adana in Melbourne, and I can confidently say it is the best adana I have had in Australia so far. I have tried a few in Adelaide and several around Melbourne, and this one easily tops them.nnWhat makes it stand out for me is the bread. It is incredibly soft, and the adana itself is very flavourful, which complements the bread perfectly. A lot of places either lack flavour in the meat or use bread that is too thick and overpowering, but Katik gets the balance right.nnI also ordered a mixed grill plate to try the kebab meat and the chicken. The chicken was definitely better than the lamb, though both were still good. It was fairly standard spit-style meat, nothing overly special, but solid and enjoyable.nnI also tried one of their pastries, which reminded me of a very thin, crispy pizza base with sun-dried or dried tomato flavours. Very subtle, but when paired with greens and a hint of lemon it worked well. It reminded me of something you would get at places like A1 Bakery, but this was a style I had not tried before alongside adana.nnTwo adanas, a mixed grill plate, two drinks, and a pastry came to around $40 to $50, which is solid value in this economy. Definitely a place I would return to.nnThat said, if I did not live in the area, I am not sure I would go out of my way just for it. But if you love food and want to try what is, in my opinion, one of the best adanas in Melbourne, this place is worth checking out. If you are more of a casual eater, it is probably not somewhere you would travel across the city just for.
Recommended for food and quality, service standards from lady/female server in blue tshirt leaves a lot to be desired.nnThere is a familiar trajectory for these local gems. They start with a community spirit, fueled by the very people who took a chance on them when the doors first opened. However, as the scale increases, a certain success amnesia begins to set in. The original warmth starts to fade. That initial humility is MIA & perspective that forgets the hands that helped build the foundation.nnI hope to see improvement in service and more welcoming approach, which will complement the amazing food.
The adana wrap is perfect. There's literally no possible way they can make it any better than it is. The bread is equally as good as the meat! I drive 50 minutes just to get one and its well worth the drive
It is hands down one the best kebab places in Melbourne! It’s always jam packed and we always order our pickup atleast 15 mins ahead of time.nNot a great place to sit and eat though. The prices are great, the turkish bread is delicious, meat is juicy, and the hummus is to die for!
Best kebabs, Adana and pides. I've come down twice from Sydney just to have a kebab. Lovely bunch of people who make your food. In-house bread which they make and bloody tastes the best.nnI'm already planning another trip to come down later in the year inshaAllah.nKatik is always busy so be prepared to wait but it's so worth the wait nnI'm drooling just writing this review while in Sydney
