Affordable hole in the wall Japanese food place. This place is fairly legit for ramen. Since it's rum by Japanese, there's always way to make the food more interesting than on the menu. Things like the hardness of your Noddles or the taste to be stronger can be done! Like all Japanese food places, all you gotta do is ask. Great place and will go back
A charming joint that offers delicious and authentic food at a reasonable price. The “hori-gotatsu” Japanese table section is a nice touch. Its name and the owner is Japanese I think! and rather slow service aside, this is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Sydney!
Lunch special for $15-17. Very good food, made to order fried karage and fresh sashimi. Would go more often.
The beef appetiser and sushi platter i had was SO GOOD that the Redfern Ramen felt a little underwhelming. Their tuna sashimi is
Great Japanese restaurant offering very reasonable lunch specials. Had the karaage chicken don set which also included 2 pieces of sushi for $15. Decent serving sizes and food was tasty. This restaurant is unique in that it offers seating in traditional Japanese style, with low tables and cushions; but there's a pit under the table if you want to cheat it and sit normally too! Good service too. Will return if we're ever in the vicinity of Usyd again!
The place literally has a designated area where customers can opt to sit at Japanese style tables ie low setting, no shoes. This is our first visit in over a year. I used to like coming here because i consider the prices were “student friendly” even though I'm not a student. This is no longer the case with the new menu but then again students may have more to spend. The skewers that were cooked over a charcoal stove was good. I enjoyed the aburi kingfish sushi and I thought it was interesting the way they make the sushi which is set on a rectangular mould to which gives it the squarish edges., similar to the mackerel sushi in Kyoto. We tried some vegetable marinated in miso cold entree and it was average. I was intrigued by today's special which was lemon and pepper ramen in chicken stock which was an Australian adaptation of yuzu ramen since we don't have yuzu here. Certainly the soup was delicious but the not much pepper and we got 2 slices of chicken. To he honest for $16 I would rather go to Ra ra ramen on the other side of redfern as their soup h awww s better favour and it's harder to make the tonkotsu stock at home. They don't serve alcohol but you can byo and buy it from the pub across the road. Byo is $2 per head. Overall I think the quality is pretty good but on the pricier end of the spectrum especially given servings are not big. The restaurant can also get a bit hot with all the stoves and no aircon. I'll wait a bit before coming back again.
Great food at a great price point. These guys do good Japanese food made nicely and of course, presented nicely. The portions were also quite generous. We went in for a lunch and all their rice dishes something - don were very good. The Tokyo Ramen served as side for combo menus were also great. Overall this is a fantastic place for a meal and a Cozy Japanese vibe.
A neighborhood japanese eating place at the heart of Darlington. Lunch can get very busy with students and patrons from nearby offices/schools. They offer $15 50 lunch combo of several rice dishes to choose plus half-portion Tokyo Ramen. The most i like is the japanese short grain rice used for the meals. There is tatami area at the corner for those willing to take their shoes off.
A loverly cosy small restaurant. Very accommodating staff. The food was very like we’ve had in Kyoto - superbly tasty. Of note was the ramen. Often places who don’t specialize in ramen fall down when offering it - but Japs Table’s ramen was complex and rich.
S33°53.463' E151°11.775' Japanese and western tables are available at this small restaurant in Darlington, Sydney NSW, run by Japanese waiters and chefs. We visited Japan many times and wondered if we would have an authentic Japanese experience at Jap’s table. In September 2018, the menu was a big surprise. Waygo Carpaccio 8pcs was an Italian twist to a Japanese dish with lightly grilled beef, sliced onion, wakame and shallot with added parmesan cheese and vegetables with Ponzo dressing AU$15.5. The Sakana Carpaccio 9pcs had another twist with tuna, salmon and kingfish, chopped onion, wakame, shallot and sesame with added vegetables with ginger, vinegar soy dressing AU$17. We habe never seen green salad on our table in Japan. The food was well prepared and tasted good, but it felt victim the Australian taste of its customers. It did not remind us of Japan. The service was good. This restaurant did not serve beer, so BYOD or go to the bottle shop across the street. Jap’s table offers good food but not an authentic Japanese experience.
