We ordered smoked eel and japanese curry. Ell was very well cook and very yummy. And I had the most delicious curry in my life! It was amazing, very delicious and nutritious. Also there is nice and cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. I would recommend this place.
One lovely Japanese eatery amidst Queenstown Mall... It was obvious that food options were catered to NZ locals, as they are very different from those in typical menus such as those in authentic Japanese restaurants. Nevertheless, lunch was enjoyable given the high quality of food served!Food: 5/5
Cosy little restaurant with good food and friendly service. Unassuming menu but every single dish was well made. The fried blue cod wings was delicious, and my friend really enjoyed the miso eggplant - neither are pictured as we were too busy enjoying the food! Slightly on the pricier side as it was $174 for two reasonably hungry girls and we ordered two drinks each. The umeshu and yuzu shu with hot water is a good call on chilly winter evenings.
This place is a hidden gem situation just off the main drag and upstairs. They don’t do walk ins so make sure to grab a reservation. They’ve got a simple menu but everything is fresh and amazing, the staff create a real vibe and it feels like you’re in Japan. Definitely recommend a few sakes as well
Very much like the traditional Japanese izakaya and very authentic Japanese food. We had the grilled kingfish wings $20, recommended by my Japanese friend. I grew up eating fish but never was keen on fish heads- but definitely enjoyed this dish. Different parts of the head had unique flavours, and they serve radish with it. We also had the grilled eggplant miso $16 and teriyaki tofu $13, both absolutely delicious. Another friend ordered the unagi donburi grilled eel rice bowl - equally good. Great service too. The menu selection was quite small but every dish we had was awesome.
We had a great meal at Kappa on a recent trip to Queenstown. It was recommended by a foodie friend and I can see why. Kappa has a great vibe to it in the restaurant and the food was fresh and delicious. We tried a couple of their specials for the day including fried kingfish wings, eel & cucumber sushi and pork dumplings. Teriyaki chicken and salmon & avo sushi was also delicious. I’d recommend getting a few dishes to share so you can taste a range of items from their standard and special menu.
All the food we ordered was delicious especially the tempura prawn sushi which was so fresh and had great crispy textures. Friendly service & authentic Japanese food, highly recommend!Food: 5/5

Absolutely amazing. Wonderful and friendly service. The staff were lovely. The food was phenomenal and sashimi was very tasty and fresh. Would definitely visit again in a heartbeat on our next stay. Thank you Kappa.
Very nice place, staff were very friendly and helpful. The food came out in good time and was very tasty. The only minor negative is, that the food volume to price ratio is on the smaller side for what you pay
