This little Bakery surprised the heck outta me. Went in here to grab a bite for brekky. The whole layout with the open kitchen is a treat to watch. The selection of breads is amazing. I ended up getting a chicken sandwich which was amazing and a pistachio pastry which was out of the world
Hominy bakery can be found at the bottom end of the shopping strip on Katoomba street. The small little store is your old school type stuff with a different loaf special daily. Their specialty is a loaf using potato in the sourdough mix. The bakery also sells full sized cakes, slices, foccacia, danishes and more. I love how all the product signs have handwritten names on them, showing care for all that they do. The sandwiches look amazing too! Grab a cookie with the soft centre, apple turnover or a lemon curd and pistachio snail! Put it on your Katoomba visit list.
My partner and I came in at about 9am today. One of the two young ladies staffing firmly instructed me not to walk to a certain side of the pastry display case, which was not indicated as off limits otherwise. My partner ordered a meat pie. I ordered a pear and apple cake per one of ladies’ suggestion. The pie was half pastry and half filling, and the cake was more raisin than apple and pear. Not sure where we went wrong as this place is quite highly reviewed yet we had a pretty average experience.
We had a selection of pies and pastries. My pick would be the almond crossisont. Great selection of breads, pies and pastries. At peak times the lines are long but well worth it.
Probably one of the best bakeries I've ever been to! The Almond Croissant was amazing, and the Chocolate Croissant is pretty good. Bakery opens early which makes it convenient if you need some food in the morning. They do run out of the food stuff later in the day!
Absolutely loved this place!! Quaint bakery in Katoomba was delicious sourdough and pastries. Tried their apple and rhubarb turnover and chocolate croissant, and pumpkin sourdough. They have their standard sourdough flavours that they offer during normal operating hours and then they have their special sourdough offerings on each day! Had to come back to try their potato sourdough and couldn’t resist their apple pie and pear & ginger cake.
This little bakery on the main street of Katoomba seems to have a big reputation. The small space was absolutely packed and people weaving in & out non stop. There is a selection of freshly baked breads, pies, sweet & savoury pastries & cakes. The chunky beef pie was delicious, the only downside was that the pastry was a bit thick & soggy on the bottom. The churros was great - light & fluffy. Absolutely loved the chocolate hazelnut cake - so decadent & delicious & the apple & pear cake was also a hit & must. Got some sourdough to go and so glad I did. They are made the proper way, not just a sour taste added to it. It was dense yet fluffy, nutty & had a great crust. Service can be a bit short tempered but you have to cut them some slack when they seem to be run off their feet all day.
Lovely little bakery selling several types of sourdough loaves, cakes, pastries, pies, etc. Really pleased with a sourdough loaf I bought here. Nice crispy flavorful crust, good crumb. Pan au chocolat are great, as good as ones I've had from bakeries in France.
We had and vouch for the small peach tart and the cookies. Cute little bakery with plenty place outside to sit down and treat yo self after a hike.
The best bakery in the Mountains. It's become my place to eat when ever I am in Katoomba. The sandwiches are the best. I have the vegetarian one everytime. Really lovely. Their breads are amazing and so are the pastries. Good prices too.
