Story

Hippo Co has been committed to providing an amazing experience to our guests for over 15 years.

One of Australia's longest operating and most awarded cocktail and jazz venues, we specialise in creating exceptional drinks and a great atmosphere in which to enjoy them.

After undergoing extensive renovation in 2013 with the addition of a balcony and a full makeover, Hippo Co is set to continue the tradition of great service for the next 15 years!

Hippo Co has the best cocktails and a very extensive whiskey list. The atmosphere feels really cosy and the bar staff have always been friendly and inviting every time I've visited. Definitely going to visit more often!
Love the vibe and the cocktails are delicious - bit pricey though
I love everything about this place. The intimate vibe, incredible and vast range of drinks and the relaxed tunes as you look out over the square.
I've finally leveled up from the ol'moosies haunt and I gotta say this place is ultra cozy vibes! Also doubles as a great people-watching vantage point, and their cocktails are wonderfully made, with no cheap mixers in sight!!

Great drinks. Unfortunately extraordinarily loud music made it impossible to have a conversation, even with the patronage limits keeping the crowd down.
Great Choice of Whiskey! Great atmosphere!
My boyfriend and I got to the bar early enough so we got a table without having to book but the place quickly filled up so we were glad we were early but you can understand why. The staff was lovely, the cocktails and whisky, delicious and the room was warm and comfortable. Next time we are in Canberra, we will be back
