I did the 5 day tour through Skye, Loch Ness & Inverness with my boyfriend. We had a wonderful time and were marvelled by the bonnie Scotland, with many breathtaking views and places that seem out of a magic world! Even the weather was magical: rain, sun, wind and some rainbows to make it more impressive. Our tour guide, Louise was absolutely fantastic, always with great sense of humour, telling us many stories and tales along the way. The only 2 remarks I would like to make is regarding the tour planning and attractions. We booked with 5 months anticipation and there seemed to have been problems with finding accommodation for everyone on our tour. We ended up all lodged in different places, some quite far apart from the center of the villages, which isn’t ideal if you want to connect and meet other people on your tour. The other remark is related to the itinerary: on your website you have a list of places we are supposed to stop by and, for some of them, we only passed by and saw from the road, which is disappointing if you actually wanted to see some monument or castle of that list. The distillery tour and tasting was also on the tour plan and instead, we went to a bar to taste one single type of whisky… this kind of information should appear clearly and be updated on the website, especially what’s included in these tours, so that we costumers know what to count on. At the end of it all, it was still an amazing first trip to Scotland and we would definitely do it again, covering other places of the Highlands. The bus was quite comfortable and the accommodations very nice too. People in Scotland are super friendly! 5 stars for sympathy!
We had such an amazing experience with Highland Explorer Tours agency. We chose to do the 1 day trip Lochness Explorer and we visit different villages and saw the amazing landscapes of the Highlands. Our tour guide and driver Tim was fantastic! He introduce and explain to us many different stories, legends and anecdotes of this land and the Scottish history. He is very professional and friendly. Thank you for everything Top!
My brothers and I took the 3 day Highlands & Isle of Skye tour. Of course the scenery and history are the true stars of the show. Absolutely stunning views at every moment, in every direction. Our guide Alison did a great job of peppering in interesting commentary without trying to upstage the scenery. Jacobite Steam Train is a must. I know three days is not enough but it truly felt like we had a deep and rich experience of the Highlands in that short time.
I have just completed their new 6 Day Volunteering Tour on the Isle of Skye. I can't recommend it enough! It was a great group with people from all over the world and we got to meet all the locals on the Sleat Peninsula on the Isle of Skye. Duffy our tour guide was exceptional, and each morning we drove over to the amazing Sleat Community Forest and helped plant trees, build paths and had lovely chats with the locals over tea and cake! Each afternoon we were taken to the sights including castles, the fairy pools and a local whiskey distillery this is optional if you don't drink and there are lovely walks too. Do give it a try next year!
What an incredible experience. I can’t thank you enough. Louise was funny, kind, knowledgeable, and passionate. This was out first time in Scotland and I cannot wait to return to the Highlands and Isle of Skye. The 3 day tour was phenomenal and I just wish we had more time!
I took two tours with this company: Alnwick and the Jacobite Train I guess I had Harry Potter on the mind that week. My first tour to Alnwick was excellent. I enjoyed the group size about half the bus and our tour guide was funny and kind Connor, I think?. Our stops were appropriately timed and I really enjoyed the entire day, start to finish. The 2nd tour was a looong one, 7a to 8p. We had an every-seat-full bus and the drive up to the highlands was quite long, but again I really appreciated the appropriately timed stops along the way. The stops also felt thoughtful: great scenery, plenty to eat and drink, easy access to restrooms, etc. My only downside was our driver. He was lovely enough, definitely knowledgeable and seemed to love his job, I personally just found his personality a tad on the annoying side. But perhaps i just needed a nap ‍ overall 5/5. Really enjoyed the ease of booking, checking in, and convenience of pick-up/drop-off locations. I'd recommend to anyone and would personally book with them again.
Took the Outlander Explorer Day Tour in mid-April. The business office was easy to find on the royal mile. Staff was outside in road vests to make sure everyone was checked in. The busses are very well maintained and very clean. We stayed at the Holiday Inn which is less than a 5 minute walk. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and had some tales along the trip. We completed the tour a bit after five and were dropped off a few minutes from Waverly station. Highly recommend this tour company for adventures in Scotland. We joined a day tour to Highland explorer today, although it was a long day Journey but Thanks to our helpful and knowledgeable tour guide/Driver Steve. He told us lot of stories and informations along the way ,it makes the journey doesn't feel boring. We had a little incident that happened in between, he was so kind and being so helpful to us. I don't think I can see so much things in a day without joining this tour. Definitely would like to join the other tour with them again in near future !
Strongly recommend Highland Explorer Tours as reliable, trustworthy, and responsive. The guides--George and Alastair--are incredibly knowledgeable, witty, and accommodating. We booked a 1 day tour of Loch Ness/Urquhart Castle, the battlefield at Culloden, and the Callanish Stones. Although we stayed in Ballater, rather than Inverness, George and Alastair bent over backwards to help us maximize the time in the Highlands. When we had questions, even late at night the evening before the trip, they responded within minutes and provided assistance. Overall, they were both polite, funny, and brimming with helpful information.
Had the best day out on my birthday. Picked to do the lockness tour. Really enjoyable. We loved the lockness boat trip. The guides are very informative.
