Danielle in Hertz at the Christchurch airport branch was very helpful to us. When we came to Christchurch Airport last week 21st Jan our car rental place was already closed after 5pm which was disappointing. We’ve already informed the delay but no one was there to provide the service after trying to get through to them for nearly an hour. We were quite disappointed & worried as with two children, felt stranded in the Airport looking for a way to get to our booked hotel in Christchurch which was nearly 20 minutes away and it was our first visit there. Fortunately, we met Danielle in Hertz at the Airport and found out that the original car rental company was a sister company of Hertz. Danielle went above & beyond to help us to arrange a vehicle. She ended up driving us to the relevant rental car place & did all the paperwork for us & arranged a vehicle efficiently. Thank you Danielle, for your excellent customer service & we wouldn’t have resolved our matter if you weren’t there. We highly recommend her & Hertz company for the best car rental service. guy was helpful and very clear to explain everything to us, we are 1 hour late and was given free upgrade, we booked Mitsubishi ASX but was given kia Niro Hybrid which was brand new, cheaper gas also. cheers!
What's the point in pre-booking to speed things up when you make us wait 1hr20mins in a huge queue for the keys? Ridiculous poor service! Free upgrade was because you didn't actually have the car we booked available. Do you realize how much of an impact such a delay can have on people's plans!? Hire more staff for the desk and get a faster system.
Rented a Toyota from this location in 2018. Drove the suv for a day when the check engine light went on. They said we put something in our tank and charged us $17,000 to our credit card once we got back to Canada. This company takes advantage of foreigners who can’t go back and fight the charges. Will NEVER do business with this company ever again.
Very upsetting . Hired the rental for 6 days. Was given an aweful vehicle. Paid $593. No refund policy for early return. Only used the vehicle for 2 and half days. Battery flat on the 2 day. Called AA as per instruction , we waited in the car for almost 2 hours then AA turned up. But not a fault of AA person. Hertz rental you have honestly ruined our hoilday. I would never recommemd to anyone. Worst ever experience.
Gentleman working on the 5th by himself was awesome. He was quite under pressure however and Hertz really need to have another staff member to give him a hand with the massive line. Especially if it’s pushing bookings back half an hour. 1 person to handle a Saturday at the desk? Not good enough. Also being new to rental car hire at the airport a print out or email confirmation with return directions included would be very helpful as we were confused on where to drop the vehicle off.
I had an excellent experience with Hertz Christchurch airport. My flight arrived at 2am 2 hours late and yet the gentleman I think his name was Jan was so helpful, professional and friendly. Outstanding service, thank you!
Edited 7/11: Emailed you guys days ago on the response email and no response yet? Yeah ok. Booking of the car and pick up was no issue Jan was very helpful however there was no discussion of reducing excess further than $5500 but that wasn't a big issue. Unfortunately during our trip to Queenstown we got a cracked windscreen and that's when the problems started. Rang the Christchurch airport during business hours multiple times in the same day and over the next couple of days in milford sound and did not get one pick up or reply at all. All we got was a voicemail which I left a message on with no return call. Rang customer service and roadside assist who were absolutely no help as the car was still drive able. Rang Christchurch city location who actually picked up and said they'd pass a message onto the airport location but never heard back from them either. Finally got someone half helpful at customer service at the Queenstown airport location and we just let it go but we were scared to drive the car more than milford to Queenstown due to the crack getting bigger and bigger every day. Overall it made our trip very stressful for the last few days to 1 week as we weren't sure if we were going to get charged the full excess to fix it or not until the man let us know it was only the charge of the windscreen even though it wasn't our fault. You guys really need to improve your customer service and clarity to customers about issues regarding windscreens and reducing excess option.
I dealt with Hertz over the phone, as there is no national Hertz page to leave reviews on I am leaving it here. Although the company representative was lovely, she seemed confused and was little help. She asked me to call back at 9AM - this was at 9:45AM, and it took some explaining to get her to understand what time it was in NZ, which was odd. I book travel for my organisation and Hertz does not allow for 3rd party credit card payments at all - according to the rep. Also odd. In the end I just decided to go with another company and asked the rep to cancel my booking. Feeling like maybe I should double check on that after the confused conversation I went to the website and looked and sure enough, she hadn't cancelled it. Glad I double checked. I won't be using Hertz again unless I really am desperate. RaD Car Hire is awesome by the way, if whomever is reading this needs a recommendation.
Great car and friendly staff, we had an issue on Christmas day and the manager on duty by the car pick up point not the counter by the airport went out of his way to help us, very surprised specially with car rental companies which usually just try to scam you. Recommend
