We enjoyed our rental with Wendekreisen. Staff was friendly and helpful. The vehicle we received was in quite good condition but had some minor dents. They could have told us that the media player add-on wasn't needed as the built in TV already has a DVD slot and even an USB connector. Their phone hotline was quite helpful when we had some trouble during our travel.

Last January me and my family (3 kids) hired a 6 berth from Wendekreisen. The problems started at the pick-up. The vehicle wasn’t cleaned properly (shoes and icecream sticks of previous people were still there). After a tour around the vehicle the lady told us she had to close the office because she had to bring other customers to the airport. In itself not a problem but after she left we discovered two windows couldn’t open but there was nobody there to talk about it. The vehicle we hired passed the 500.000 km mark during our trip. Being quite an old vehicle it had lots of bumps and bruises. They later told us that every damage is fixed after one season which obviously wasn’t true looking at all the rust. Outside damage isn’t a big problem but a leaking roof vent is. Also a kitchen window without flyscreen (which had been there before) isn’t handy when you are cooking and flies keep coming in. I emailed them all the issues we had with the vehicle but only got an email back with all kind of excuses and a half day refund for all the inconvenience. After a week we had to go to the emergency department with our daughter. When leaving we quickly had to make way for an ambulance. When doing that my husband slightly hit the water drain of the building. This resulted in a minor damage on the top of our van. I immediately reported the damage to Wendekreisen. I received a formal email back with the next steps (not one “we hope your daughter is alright or anything like it”) We agreed (on our request) that we would see a panel beater on the last day of our holiday. The amount turned out to be over 1400 NZ dollar because it included a total repaint of the front panel. The guy told us that wendekreisen probably wasn’t going to do a total repaint because it was just a small scratch but he had to put it in the quote. On return we talked about this with one of Wendekreisen employees. She was very kind and advised us to not take the half day refund immediately but first send an email with our complaint to a colleague at reservations. I send an email on the 8th of feb. I didn’t hear anything back for weeks (I had send 2 more emails by then) and finally got an answer on the 26th of feb saying that they could only offer the half day refund (144 NZ dollar) So Wendekreisen has put an extra 1400 dollar in their pocket. All with all the experience with wendekreisen really affected our Holliday.

This company is great! Friendly, helpful staff at both Auckland and Christchurch depots. We got a budget 2 berth campervan which was big enough for 2 adults and small enough to negotiate winding roads. We visited during the NZ winter and the price was a third of the high season. Other companies were charging more than twice what we paid for smaller vehicles. If you're not accustomed to driving a standard shift, I would recommend hiring an automatic shift because driving on the left side of the road takes a few days to get comfortable.

Awesome friendly staff at the Auckland depot, The lady went right out of her way to see us right! (All 6 of us!) On our trip we did need technical assistance also and Stuart got us immediately sorted. Comfortable, Clean, mechanically sound camper.. Will be a returning customer for sure!!
