The ambience of this restaurant was calming and romantic with dimmed lighting and music that enhanced the whole dininig experience. Most importantly, we were delighted to be served by professional and friendly staff who made us feel at home instantly. Food was meticulously prepared, steaks were cooked to perfection and done just right as requested. The fried squid was delicious and cooked just right without feeling like rubber and overly chewy. Overall, this is a great place to dine for special and family occasions. 5 stars and worth recommendation!!! A great restaurant that added to our great travel experience to Melbourne and Healesville!!
Fantastic experience all round. Food, service and atmosphere.nReally lovely ambience and decor, lighting was lovely, not too bright and not too many people paked in.nWe were welcomed and checked in at the bar by a nice friendly guy, who got a waitress to take us to our table.nThis waitress was amazing at her job. It was our first visit so she explained about the place, and went through the menu with us. So natural and attentive throughout the meal without being over the top.nRob enjoyed his icy cold blonde ale, while i had an elderberry mocktail, lovely.nWe had an oyster each, I wouldn't bother with the chilli jam next time, just the lemon.nThen an amazing leek and cheese croquette with a home made gribishe sauce. We could have eaten 10 of em.nRob has the Chang Mai style slow cooked lamb curry, that was melt in the mouth, super tasty and just right spice level. Having eaten in Chang Mai I can vouch for it.nI had the duck leg with coconut rice and papaya salad. Duck was perfection. The rice a little bit rich for me, but still ate it. And the papaya salad was lovely.nDon't miss out on this experience if in the area.
Underwhelming based on the positioning this restaurant had given itself on the internet as really upmarket. By the fitout, the bar, the pricing, the minimalist menu. I heard that they do an amazing duck dish and the undertone was beautiful Thai cuisine. You look at the decor and it’s trying to be Australian bush but you can’t look at the back mural without wondering why there is an air conditioning unit in the middle of the bush? Where is the Thai influence in all of that. The closest on the menu was Yellow Thai Chicken Curry, which I could make at home. Advertised opening time set as 4pm, we went in at 4:15pm. Once we got into the bar area we were told that they didn’t start cooking until 5pm and all they could offer was olives or cashews while you wait 45 minutes. A side-plate of slightly warmed good Sicilian olives with a pit bowl for $10? No olive oil, no sourdough, no other options. Then at 4:50pm the waiter decides to get ahead and take our order, given that there was only another family and us in the restaurant! Not really reading the room. We order the steak, which he knew when we walked in at 4:15pm, only to say that they would then take the steak out of the fridge to come to room temperature. The charcoal coming to temperature was going to take slightly longer than the steak but that wasn’t a consideration from the start? Disappointing that they wouldn’t know that if I did. Lucky for them we ordered blue and medium rare but it still didn’t get to our table until 5:30pm. It came out without any seasoning. No salt or pepper on the table. We had to ask for the salt! The fries were quite blond. Portion sizing was good. We were all eaten, paid and walking out the door by 6pm. The steak was good quality and cooked just a touch further but the wait and the decor killed it. The bar had a bigger offering. I don’t get what they are trying to tell the consumer? I was confused if it’s a swanky bar or a good restaurant? Their menu, decor or especially both Front-of-House and Back-of-House service did not ingratiate themselves on me to ever want to come back! I really wanted to talk them up because the main meal was good not great. Such a pity. $156 with no drinks between 2.
We were searching for a place for lunch as the place we wanted to go was closed. So the search was on and we stumbled across this little gem on a busy Easter weekendnnLovely decor, very friendly and attentive staff. We didn't have a booking and the guy running the bar accommodated us - thanks mate life saver with 2 hungry kids in tow.nnLoved the decor, they stock plenty of local drinks which is awesome and Thai influenced food.nnThe flavours were amazing the popcorn chicken with that lovely sweet sauce n chilli was amazing. Not feeling like a heavy lunch we decided to go with the Burgers- simple but very tasty and satisfying - only complaint was how long it took.nnThanks again to the staff who were accommodating and on point with service. Definitely recommended
The lovely atmosphere and friendly hospitality made up for a slightly underwhelming dinner. The goat cheese soufflé was a great starter to share. The lamb curry was punchy and spicy, but the mouthfuls of dry lemongrass strands in the sauce left a bad mouthfeel. The lamb was soft but seemed a bit overcooked. We had high expectations as this dish was highly recommended by their staff but we can’t help but feel a little let down. The atmosphere and vibes were great, however, and we would love to return to have a drink and some snacks!
