*** Hello José - TAQUERIA & BAR ***

Tacos, tequila, beach and disco... Aussie Mexican!

"Our humble little Taqueria serves up some of the best Mexican in town. We are dedicate to making everything fresh, in-house and we are one of very few places in Melbourne that hand-press fresh corn tortillas to order. Consequently the Tacos are the main feature of menu, but you will want to try the Corn and we're pretty happy with our Chipotle Chicken Wings! A perfect spot for a mid-week dinner, after-work drinks or a large fiesta; José's 'Cerveza Garden' will have you feeling like you're in a Tropical Mexican sea-side bar regardless of what weather Melbourne is dishing up. Settle in with a classic Margarita, ice-cold Cerveza or work your way through ourextensive list of Tequila and Mezcal!"

We tried this out as reviews were very good. Nice atmosphere in the beer garden and free popcorn when we were seated was popular with the kids. We ordered quickly but had a around 45 minute wait which is a little too long in my opinion, particularly given a lot of the salsas and sauces etc would have been made earlier. Food itself was reasonably tasty and fresh, tortillas were nice and soft. My main criticism though apart from the wait was I didn’t think the value was there. We had the taco feast with 12 tortillas which was $90 and was expecting a bit more of a feast particularly with the protein serving sizes and sides.
Loved the tacos!! Tortilla was perfectly toasted, the fish and chicken crispy, the salads fresh and the sauces are standouts. Really enjoyed our experience. We got here early 6pm and by the time we were finished 7.30pm it was packed. Tried the margs and corona beers, Delish. Food came out super quick, a nice touch was arriving and being offered popcorn as we used the QR code to order. Staff were so friendly, we’re definitely coming back.
Finally had a chance to check out Hello José and it was awesome. Great service and amazing food. The chips they make are on another level and are perfect for a starter and you absolutely have to get the corn. I tried the beef and chicken taco and they were delicious.
Definitely my favorite tacos in the CBD area. Nice outdoor seating area. Very limited indoor seating. Highly recommend a booking. I usually get the build your own taco option as it seems like a better deal. There is always something protein left over after, so they give a good portion also.
Dropped by for a quick feed before Ed Sheeran concert, the food and cocktails were on point. Tacos came out quick and fresh with many hot sauce to choose from. The Jose fries were out of this world. Love the backyard laid back ambience. Would totally recommend everyone to come by this joint for a great night out with some friends. Prompt and friendly customer service
Ceviche Tostadita Corn, Parmesan, Spiced Cream Fish Taco Chorizo Mince Taco Churros, Dulce De Leche Hello Jose is a Mexican-inspired eatery located in West Melbourne, right opposite the Queen Victoria Market. Most of the dining space is in their outdoor, undercover courtyard, fit with heating so you don’t have to worry about the winter nights. Our favourite item off the menu was the Tostaditas, tasty and fresh. We also loved the churros! Generous, covered in sugar and come with a delicious caramel dipping sauce. The Tacos were okay, we found them a little bland. The Fish Taco was moist, had a lot of slaw but a little too big. The Chorizo Taco kind of tasted like bolognese? The tortillas are hand pressed in house daily. Overall, it’s enjoyable. A good spot for a drink and a quick bite. You can order via QR code, so perfect for group catch-ups. They also do Boozy Brunches on a Saturday or Sunday for $65pp min. 8ppl.
Nice hang out and really yummy food. We were walk ins as we didn’t have a booking, but the staff were friendly and attentive. We order through their QR code app and the food and drinks came out in a good amount of time. Would definitely go again
Ordered the Beef, Chicken and Fish Tacos. Fish and Beef were good, however the chicken was very dry and flavourless. Also ordered takeaway where they forgot our wings order. Be prepared to wait 1 hour ordering takeaway on a busy night.
The best!! Been coming for years. Fish taco, ceviche tastadidas, the corn chips, corn, margarita of course! Free pop corn when you arrive and produce is always so fresh. Make sure you leave space for the churros Recommended dishesCeviche, Churros, Totopos, Cup of Popcorn, Corn on the Cob
Opposite Queen Victoria Markets lies @HelloJose_Au for some Mexican fare. The hand pressed tacos looked appealing so got: - slow cooked beef, chipotle cream, pickled cabbage, chilli - beer battered fish, spiced up cream, pickled cabbage A golden brown light super crispy batter encases perfectly cooked tender fish served along with a pickled cabbage. Very enjoyable particularly with a squeeze of lime. The slow cooked beef is super tender and full of beef flavour, very tasty but needed a dash more seasoning. I like the Jalapenos which deliver a but of kick and background chilli hum. The corn tacos are also very enjoyable. Good size tacos with a range of hot sauces at the table, complimentary popcorn, Mexican themed chilled environment, lovely dinner, solid offering. Probably need to work on adding a salsa for that burst of freshness typical of a taco. #MexicanFood #tacos #beerbatteredfish #slowcookedbeef #slaw #corntacos #foodie #melbournecbd #melbournefood @zomatomelb
