I came to Doctor Helander in regards to my adult acne that's been bothering me for years. I've been to various specialist but the solutions didn't work for me. After one visit and the right prescription, a year later my skin is absolutely clean. Should have paid a visit here sooner!

I have been coming to get my skin checked by Steve Helander for 24 years, twice a year. My family has an awful history with melanoma, with both my mum having it and my younger brother passing away at the age of 24. As a result I have always felt a little anxious about my skin with its many moles and freckles. Both Steve and the lovely Andrea have always greeted me with a smile, and always seem genuinely interested in what I have been up to with my young family. Steve understands my concerns in regards to my skin and is always extremely thorough, kind and reassuring. The few times he has seen something that is not quite right he has removed the mole quickly, efficiently and successfully. I keep up with my 6 monthly appointments.... and always feel confident after leaving with a big tick. Thanks guys for always giving me peace of mind

I wouldn't even give Steve Helander a 1 star review. My husband went for his annual skin check as he had a mole he was concerned about but this doctor said it's fine,but if u want it burnt of I can. So he did and that mole got darker and didnt fall off . Now my husband has stage 3 Melanoma and after going to a cosmetic surgeon to discuss his diagnosis they found another melanoma spot on his back that also was not picked up by Steve Helander. Do yourself a favor and find another skin specialist because this man was in a hurry and very careless. This has changed our lives forever. Now he is stage 4 and it has moved to his brain.

Steve Helander is one of the best dermatologists I have come across. He is professional yet empathetic and genuinely cares about his patients. Steve worked with me on my extensive psoriasis and I have been completely clear for over 3 and a half years now - thanks Steve - you are a Star. nb Steve's admin ladies are super lovely too

5 months ago I walked into Steve's rooms in Ponsonby after being told by the public system that they were not able to treat my chronic, systemic psoraisis. I met Steve and his lovely support staff and have been going to his clinic three times a week since for UVB treatment with Southern Cross general cover. No more liver destroying pills, no more oily layers of creams, I have the best skin I've had since I was 10! Systemic & chronic plaques are now soft skin, I'd recommend moisturising after treatments, but it has changed my day-to-day life.

We have been patients of Steve's for around 20 years and during that time we've had a few minor surgeries as well as skin checks. Steve has always been attentive and given sound advice. We have had no cause for complaint and his practice staff are always helpful and obliging.

I have been to a few Dermatologists in Auckland and I am so grateful I found Steve and his team Andrea and Julie. I have never experienced such amazing customer service. Steve Helander and his team care about their patients, are always there when needed. They will always follow up on everything and considering how challenging my skin condition is it is so refreshing to find a team that wants to work with you to get well. Couldn't recommend them more! Good quick visit. The doctor sounds like an experienced dermatologist. I was a bit skeptical after reading a couple of reviews here but turns out he is good. Just to clarify, I didn't have any treatment done, just asked him about couple of concerning spots. He explained things thoroughly, then gave me the chance to choose whether I want to treat them. I chose not to, as they were not harmful. The 3 out of 5 is mainly because of the rude impolite lady on the reception, who needs to learn some customer service principles.

I’ve been with Doctor Steve Helander for my alopecia treatment hair lost and my eczema and was extremely happy with his advised and services. For that reason I would highly recommend him and give him 5 stars for that.

I have just tried to book an appointment with a dermatologist due to my facial problems and strong allergy. Unfortunately, extremely impolite person/receptionist on the phone was not helpful at all and at the end has disconnected me before I have finished the sentence. What a unprofessional customer service.
