Heart Bakes is in an ideal location, tucked away from the main drag of Port Melbourne and nestled in the more quieter streets. However the atmosphere and vibe at Heart Bakes is pumping, especially on the weekends. After I completed a charity run, I was craving for some food after pounding the pavement for a couple of hours, The selection is tremendous with golden seared savoury toasties and popular sweet treats, including their popular iced coffee scrolls. The service is top notch even during peak popular times on the weekend. The value is great, with food well worth it. Bear in mind, the wait time can sometimes e a bit longer, due to the popularity but it is worth the wait.
2.8/5nnOverall: busy café hyped up by social media that’s mediocre and overpriced.nnCame here on a Saturday morning and the place was incredibly busy doing both dine in and takeaways. Had high hopes as due to all the recommendations I’ve see on instagram and the positive reviews. I know a lot of people compare this to Sebby’s Scrolls, and personally I think Sebby’s is better, though neither wowed me.nnWhat we ordered:nnTiramisu Scroll $8.9 2.6/5 - opted to dine in as we wanted to enjoy a warm cinnamon scroll, but it wasn’t served warm, you can see that the icing on top was still solid. Whereas the cinnamon scrolls for the diners next to us had melted icing - surely they just microwaved them, so I found it quite disappointing that they served ours room temp. It tasted so mediocre, the tiramisu flavour was there but didn’t stand out, the scroll was quite dense, not soft and fluffy, and the icing was too sweet.nnTwisted donut $5.5 3/5 - this was pretty good, but not amazing. If you want a fresh twisted donut, I’d recommend going to Bottari on Elizabeth Street.nnIf memory serves me right, this place also had a weekend surcharge and card surcharge on top of their steep prices. Wouldn’t come back again.
Delicious gooey scrolls, the hype is worth it! This is THE cinnamon scroll spot in Melbourne.nnThey have cinnamon and tiramasu flavoured scrolls, not sure if they do flavours on other days. Plenty of other baked goods that I look forward to trying next time :nnThey cook them in fresh batches, not in one giant batch, so every cinnamon scroll is fresh and straight from the oven. It was very busy, there's not really any seating available when it's busy. I recommend to take it to the park nearby or to the beach :nnScrolls are $7.50 each which is a steal!
Flat white is so good, but the cinnamon roll is the real star. Soft, buttery, perfectly spiced… honestly to die for. Came for coffee, stayed for the pastry
My oh my! The cinnamon scroll was bloody incredible. Soft centred, perfectly sweetened glaze. Ignore my pic as I got mine takeaway and some of the glaze stuck to the paper- but I had one beforehand and loved it. I should’ve tried the other baked goodies but I’ll be back again.
