The cakes that I have had from this establishment, so far have been excellent. The chocolate cake was superb, just loved the chocolate eclairs, probably the Best I have had in Melbourne. The cup cakes were also very good.
Nice bakery but the front of shop service is awful. The two indian girls need a huge customer service training!!a simple smile & a thank you will go along way
Bloody impatient and rude Indian girl behind the counter. It is most annoying and helava rude when she was talking Indian language to her co worker right in front of me. The Chala and cakes are really nice but they have to seriously work on their staff and get rid of these rude girls speaking Indian language.
I said hello to one of the two women serving. She looked at me but said nothing. So rude. Bought 4 bagels. After I looked around the filthy shop I threw them out in the closest rubbish bin. Think the staff are appalling the woman spoke to the other woman working there but not to me - not once and the place needs to be inspected for food safety. It is filthy. Avoid at all costs.
All of the staff are indians who are rude as anything! Last week, when I advised the girl that she gave me the wrong size Challa, contrary to what I asked for, she gave the most squashed up face of dissatisfaction and walked to get the right size Challa and was ticked off. She then spoke to the other co worker in Hindi who in turn gave me the biggest looks to kill and they continued to speak about me. At one time several months ago, a similar scenario took place with the workers speaking Hindi to one another and laughing when someone made an order. It is disgraceful how in an English speaking country that the shop owners allow their Indian workers to speak Hindi to one another at the shop front! If it was in the back, that is one thing, but not in front of customers! It is the height of all rudeness! When the same thing happened last week, I was so taken aback that I wanted to speak to the owners. When I confronted the owners about this complaint, they stood up for their Indian workers and told me basically that I was lying with my above story and that their workers must speak Hindi to one another so they can communicate!!!!!! I was gobsmacked! A customer makes a complaint and instead of taking in what he says and working on the problem to instruct their staff to only speak English to one another at the store front, instead of questioning their staff, they straight away attack the customer for 'lying' and 'making up stories'! DISGRACEFUL HEIMISHE BAKERY!!!!!
Terrible service. I have visited this place 4 times now and am yet to even be served. The staff completely ignore me and serve everyone around me. They are also are very rude and bad tempered. I have visited with my mother and still ignored. Last and final visit I saw an older gentleman behind the counter putting his bare hands all over the bread and then in his pockets. No hygiene standards what so ever. Never going back.
Indian girl at the counter so extremely rude. No smile...nothing. No hello can I help you...nothing! Like she does not want to work there. Customer service from the indian staff is horrible especially when they talk hindu to each other in front of staff when we have no idea what they are saying, or cursing us. I thought I was the only one but I am glad I am not after looking at some of the reviews here.
Food always fab but the girl who, at first, refused to take my $5 noteit had a slight rip in it was rude
A hidden gem in balaclava. I did underestimate food production. The word affordability and quality don't always flow in the same sentence.... I must be honest that 'apple slice' is something special like home cooked meal yum. There a few hidden surprises to be found there keep an eye out or you miss out. Edit I did not know haymisha Bakery made rum ball's that was a surprise yum .
I'm giving 4 stars for customer service and for the chocolate cake I bought I'd give 3.5 stars, just because the icing around the cake was too hard. I visited the store quite late around 6pm and most of the bakeries around were closed. Luckily found this place open to get a birthday cake. I was welcomed with a warm smile and the lady helped me with selecting a cake and was ready to answer all my questions patiently. The bakery looks like a traditional bakery with lots of traditional items to choose from. I didn't try any other items other than Swiss roll, which was ok again without icing.
