Their pies are made freshly in-house and each of our pies tasted fantastic. We had dumplings with good chilli dipping oil. They had mead and a great range and mix of drinks, our porters were good.

They always have awesome unique beer and barley wine on tap, friendly and knowledgeable staff, great food, and it is an awesome quiet study spot during the day. I can always count on Hashigo Zake for a delicious beer, chill vibe, and alone time. Thank you Hashigo Zake!!
Intimate little venue with great local talent and a groovy afro samurai vibe. Did you know you can watch old school 1950's movies there every Sunday in their little theatre, check it out if your looking for something a lil different... oh and there's free popcorn/entry
I am not sure what it is with this venue; the staff are extremely rude and always seem to have this look of judgement on their face. Every time I have been I have never seen a smile on their faces; it's depressing. We generally go for their jazz nights and last night was the final straw. It is a shame because we enjoy their jazz nights but can no longer support a business that makes their patrons feel so uncomfortable. Maybe don't work in hospo if you hate people so much?? If you value good service I highly recommend looking elsewhere!
We enjoyed the lounge comedy show here. The cheese platter was good value. Hard to hear staff through their masks. Kind of weird to see all the covid stuff around still? Anti covid air purifiers? Bit much at this point ... move on guys.
There are plenty of fine craft beer bars to choose from in Wellington, but Hashigo Zake stands apart for taking the ongoing pandemic situation seriously and introducing multiple measures to improve the indoor air quality of their premises. CO2 monitoring, CR boxes, and more masking than most businesses are doing. Non-pharmaceutical interventions like these are the only remaining mitigations that airborne viruses DON'T have the ability to mutate around, and more dining and drinking establishments would do well to follow their example. Come for the beer but not the decor. Always has a great selection of craft beer on tap and in the fridge. It’s out of the way location means it can be a little quiet compared to the bars of Courtenay Place. An old reliable. Built for comfort.
Great selection of Beers, very small and intimate room for live music that was presented when I was there.
